That New Start (a Hayes Grier Imagine)

Part Four

Band ended and I had already made some friends. I went into the lobby and waited for Hayes. I saw him sauntering down the hallway. He spotted me and got a smile on his face.

"Ready for lunch?" He asked with a smirk on his face. I nodded. I followed him in the crowded hallway into the lunch room. I sat with him and his friends. One of them included the boy that was tormenting me in science this morning.

"Hey! Look who it is! You were that girl who was too shy in science." I glared at him and sat down next to Hayes.

"Don't worry about him." Hayes whispered in my ear.

I enjoyed my lunch, mostly talking to Hayes. After it was over, Hayes showed me to my next class. I had Health. back at my old school, i never liked health. It was never an interesting class to me. I guess I'll deal with it. And I was right, that class was boring. Especially for me first day.

After school was over, I was going to get my trumpet and walk home. I went to the band room, got it out of my locker and walked out the school doors and started to walk home. I didn't live far from school and I enjoyed the walk.

I was about halfway home when a car drove really slowly and stopped by me. The window rolled down and in the drivers seat was Hayes.

"Want a lift? You look tired." He said, leaning out the window.

"I would, but I feel like my mom would be confused if I showed up home from my first day of school in some random guy's car." I said stopping to talk to him through the window.

"But I'm not some random guy. I'm your friend from school, kindly offering you a ride." I sighed. I was conflicted. Hayes patted the passenger seat next to him. I rolled my eyes and got in his car. He smiled and put the car in gear. He drove down the road with the windows rolled down. It was pretty relaxing.

He pulled up to my house and put the car in park. "I'll see you tomorrow." He said. I smile at him.

"Yeah, see ya!" I said getting out of the car and running into my house. I'm glad I didn't walk.
