Dexter POV

"Did she say anything?" I can't help but asked the silly question, hoping that she might want to know anything about me.

"She asked if you were busy and why don't you call her instead." He spoke like a robot.

"What does it mean?" I mumbled in a low tone but Alex heard it clearly.

"Maybe that was her indirect message for you to call her?" I turned my sight to him. His words caught my interest, and it made me have the impulsiveness to call her, putting aside the promise that I made the night before.

"No, that won't be the case." I shook my head, swept the temptation away.

Just at the right time, his ringtone caught my attention. I wait for him to answer, anticipated for Elsie. At least, I could ask him to on the loudspeaker so that I could hear her voice even though she wasn't talking to me.

"Hello, yes, yes, I will let boss know about it." From the way he answered, I knew it was something related to our work, not Elsie. I waited for him to end the call.

"Boss, they got the guy."

"What a good timing to release the beast," I smirked while my mind started to think of multiple ways to torture the bastard that caused everything to happen.

I leave all my work on the desk and stormed out from the office headed to the underground floor. That was the best place to do our business without any interruption from outside.

"Welcome to Anderson's hell," I screeched when I saw a figure being tied on the armchair. Blood and bruises covered his face and some parts of his body. "What is his name again, I forget." I snickered, eyeing his pathetic figure.

"Brian, boss."

"Ah, Brian. How could I forget the name of the person that almost kill my wife? From the red liquid and the bruises on your face, I could see that my men welcomed you nicely." I squatted in front of him and placed a gun on his chin before cranking it up, forcing him to look at my face. I smirked, satisfied with his condition, but it wasn't enough to pay for what he did.

"Do you know what is the consequence of hurting my family?" I glared at him with fire as if I could burn him into ashes with my eyes. "Did you hear my question? Talk!" I spat, consumed by anger. I smacked his head with the gun. His body stumbles due to the force that I used.

"I- don't have a choice." He was stuttered, trying to enunciate the words clearly as I noticed his body started to get weak.

"No, no, no. Not the time for you to collapse yet. This is not even the intro. We still have many things to figure out." My arm reached his neck harshly, choking him. By the time he almost out of his breath, I let it go. He coughed and hitched in an attempt to steady his breath.

"Probably due to the lack of oxygen to your brain make you want to speak now? You know what I want, Brian. Tell me before I run out of my patience." I warned him, giving him another chance.

"Human trafficking gang. They tried to get the file from you. I believe you know who was behind this." I spun and looked at Alex that was standing behind me with a few of the men there.

"Damon?" I recalled the name, the person that was related to human trafficking, the one that I crossed path with the last few months."

"Yes, I have no choice but to do as he commanded." He confessed.

"What were you? A dog that can't live without command from anyone?"

"I don't have another choice. Please, trust me. He forced me into this." I let out a burst of humorless laughter upon his words.

"Since I got what I want, you know your value to me now, and I doubt your boss will claim you back even though I informed him about your whereabouts. Don't you think so, Brian?" His eyes widened as he knew the meaning behind my words.

"Alright, since it was easy to deal with you, I give you the honor to choose the way you want to bid farewell to the world. Choose your weapon, Brian. We have several choices here." I pointed to the corner where all the weapons were placed there.

"Pl-please, no, don't do this to me." He begged desperately for his life. Letting him go might put the risk for my family. I won't take the risk by giving him the chance to ruin everything. The damage that he caused for now was enough, I wasn't able to clear the mess that he created. Elsie with her memory loss was more than enough to deal with.

"Unfortunately, my kindness was out of quota today." I pointed the gun to his head, making his body shaking automatically.

"Please, I have a son. They threaten me with my son." His voice was loud enough for me to tighten my grip on the gun.

"And you almost kill my wife and my unborn baby!" I screeched the sentence while my hand pulling the trigger. I hesitated for a while; his statement disturbed my mind.

"Damn it! Alex! Is this true?"

"Boss," he comes closer, showing me something on the phone. I take a glance at the screen. The family picture on the screen made me lowered my gun. I closed my eyes for a brief moment, calming the beast inside me. Just one step and it will change a lot of things.

"Where is your son now? And, what is the deal with him?"

I get all the information from him and asked Alex to call the doctor to check on his injury. The story didn't end here, I have another mission before attacking the monster that hiding behind this poor guy. I need a better plan to be the winner in this game.
