Andrea POV
I was into my storybook before I heard the soft knocks on the door. The door swung open and mommy entered the room with a smile flash on her face.
"Are you busy, my princess?"
"I have all my time for you, mommy," I told her genuinely. I was in my terrible state last two weeks during the period she was lying unconscious in the hospital. Due to the accident, I couldn't spend time with her and not even taking a step out of the mansion.
"That's an honor." She gushed, strode closer towards me, and taking a seat next to me on the bed. "What are you up to?"
"Nothing, mommy. Just reading a storybook." I showed her the cover of the book, with the picture of a beautiful princess and ugly prince on it.
"Oh, Beauty and the Beast, that's a nice story."
"That's for sure, mommy. I like it."
"I don't have the chance to talk to you just now. I was wondering, princess, how were your days while I was away?"
I scoped closer to her, wrapping my arms around her as if she will disappear if I let go of my hands. Tears brimming at the edge of my eyes, but I refuse to let them wet my cheeks.
"Hey, princess. What's wrong?" She sensed something odd. I tried to calm myself before letting the emotion take over me. "I'm here now, princess. Sorry for leaving you alone for the last two weeks. I am a bad mommy."
"No, mommy, you're not. It wasn't your fault; it was mine instead." I suck my guilt while the flashback about that day played in my mind.
"Why are you blaming yourself, princess?" She pulled me off to allow her to have a better view of my face.
"If you didn't come to the school that day, the accident won't happen. I'm the one who asked you to send me to school and I really regret it, mommy. I'm so sorry."
"Look at me, princess. If you blame yourself again for this, I will not befriend you anymore." She pulled my chin and made me look at her.
"Okay?" She urged. I nodded, still feeling guilty, but I promised her eventually.
"I'm sorry, princess, but I have to tell you one thing." I frowned taking in the serious look on her face.
"Are you not feeling well, mommy?" I started getting worried.
"No, don't worry about that. I'm good, but I must admit that I don't really remember what happened in the past. I mean, some part of my memory was gone, and I only remembered some part of it. Did you get what I'm trying to say?"
I stared at her trying to put her words into my head.
"Something like lost memory?"
"Yes, you're right. I almost forget that I'm talking to the cleverest girl in the world." She slapped her forehead slightly. I chucked at her compliment.
"Do you remember the reason I asked you to accompany me to school?"
"Unfortunately, princess. That was part of the lost one."
"We shared a secret about that, mommy."
"Oh, so I really missed out on something important here. Mind to share with me again?" I giggled before answering her and shared with her the secret one more time, not forget to mention that that was our secret and daddy shouldn't know about that.
"How was your school anyway?" The question made me upset. She wasn't aware of the thing that happened after the accident.
"I didn't go to school anymore, mommy."
"What? Why?"
"I think daddy is worried that something bad might happen to me."
"Understand, but how about you? Do you still want to go to school?"
"Of course, mommy. I have friends there, but I know daddy won't give his permission."
"It's okay, princess." Her hand reached mine before she continues her sentence, "I will talk to daddy about this. Don't worry, okay?"
I nodded my head but not really set any expectations for that. I know it was hard to convince daddy once he had his word. I quickly changed the topic, refuse to let it ruin the mood.
"Did you forget anything about daddy?" I noticed the question made her surprised, and it slowly replaced with a sigh.
"A lot, princess. I don't even remember that we were married. I only remembered him as the person that I dislike."
"Oh, that was why both of you kept bickering just now."
"Can't avoid it. Your daddy loves to annoy me." She rolled her eyes as if daddy were in the room.
"You love him, mommy. We both love him a lot. I have to admit that he is annoying sometimes but daddy is a good guy."
"I can see the love from your eyes." I noticed the smile on her face. "Do you want to sleep with us tonight?"
"Why?" I can't help but asked her the question.
"Nothing, I just missed you."
"Mommy, just now you say that I am a clever girl, remember?" I narrowed my eyes and studied how her expression changed. She let out laughter not long after that, being caught red-handed.
"You got me there, princess. You see, I don't remember him as my husband, and it makes me feel uncomfortable to sleep with him. Oh, sorry, I shouldn't talk to you about this."
I laughed at her for feeling bad.
"So, it's like you calling for my help now?"
"Yeah, I wish for that."
"Alright, mommy. I will help you out." I answered her immediately. I'm not at loss after all, but daddy is. She squealed like a little girl and pulled me into a hug.
"You're the best, princess. I'm glad that you're here, at least I won't be stuck with your daddy in the room."
"He wasn't that bad, mommy." I chuckled in her embrace.
"I hope the good part about him stays in my memory, but it doesn't work that way. What to do princess, I only remembered the bad part of him."
"But I think you love the bad parts of him too, mommy. It's just that you didn't realize it yet."
"Are you giving me love advice now, princess?"
We both laughed at her joke. It's good to have her back.
