Dexter POV
"Is everything ready here?" I asked with a serious tone. We decided to ambush their base at the midnight. I can't let Elsie stay there longer, I don't want to risk her safety and the thought about little Anderson just make it worse.
"Everything is ready, boss."
I examined my men; they were ready with the gun and all the weapons that might be needed for the mission. I make sure Alex briefs them about the plan so that no one will mess up. I won't be able to take the risk. The plan for tonight is to bring Else out from the place and being able to kill that bastard will be a bonus. But I won't focus on that part for now. I will have plenty of time to plan for that.
We were able to trace the place as Brian send us the live location, he had a device that could trace the location where they locked Elsie. We were lucky that Damon entrusted him to watch the entrance, it will be easy for us to enter the place without no one noticed it.
Following the plan, we gathered at a place near their base. It was an old mansion, the place where they normally kept their victims there as Brian reported to me. The team immediately moved to the respective position while waiting for my command. From afar, with the binocular, I noticed the sniper from my gang was on the rooftop, ready with his sniper rifle to shot anytime. He was there prior to our arrival.
At the moment I received the sign from the sniper and Brian, I gave a hint to my men ready to ambush. Since we have studied the map, it was easier for us. There were few guards around the place, and we knocked them with punches and kicks instead of fire the gun to avoid alarming them.
"Say hi to hell," I told the guy before punching his face. Before he counters back, I twirled his neck and he immediately fell to the ground. I kicked his breathless body before moving away.
I entered the place and hid in the corner as I saw two guys were patrolling near that area. I need to get to the basement where they kept Elsie there. I wanted to be the one who finds her first and bring her out from the awful place safely.
I came out from my hideout and used the end of the barrel to knock one of the guys. The other one noticed my presence, but it was too late for him to take action as the bullet from my gun reached him first in the forehead. He fell to the floor with blood covering his face.
The gunshots were resonated in the air. It was chaos as both gangs started to fire guns. My men covered me so that I could sneak to the basement to save Elsie. I knew it won't be easy as the gunshot had notified them about our arrival there.
"Shit!" I perched as a bullet hit my legs. I kneeled down and rolled to the corner, return the bullet to the guy that injured my leg. The next second, a guy that comes from nowhere suddenly kicked me at my leg that was injured. He might notice the injury and purposely did that to double the pain. I wouldn't allow him to hurt me for the second time, I budged and twirled around, sending a kick to his skull. Taking the opportunity when the pain distracted him, I punched him a few times on the face and stopped when there is no more movement from him.
Ignored the pain in my legs, I strode to the basement that was a few steps away, pulling the trigger ready to shoot anyone that crossed my path. The place was terrible with a strong smell of blood. I wondered how many people they killed in that place. I was surprised that no one in the basement, but I still didn't let my guard down.
"Love," I called her the moment my eyes landed on her figure. She was lying weakly on the floor, with her back leaned against the wall. Her eyes fluttered open and a smile crept on her face, noticing me outside the cell. Her face was pale with her trembling lips. Without wasting any time, I shot the lock on the door and kicked the door. It opened without any difficulty.
"I will bring you out from here, love," I reassured her. She gazed at me but no word from her. I noticed the blood that stained at the edge of her lips and the bruises on her face. I fisted my knuckles, hate the fact that they hurt her.
I lifted her up from the ground and carried her bridal style, leaving the basement. My men saw me and immediately shield me from any attacks. I don't care about the risk of getting shot, the only thing that matters to me now was Elsie. She looked weak, and I need to rush her to the hospital.
Elsie POV
If my strength allows me, I will run to him and pulled him into my embrace. At first, I thought I was being delusive when his voice penetrated my ears. I wanted to say something to him, but I couldn't find my voice. Thus, helplessly I stared into his eyes and smiled at him, showing him how much I appreciate his effort to save me. I thought I won't be able to meet him anymore.
My tears dropped thinking about the possibility.
"We're almost there, love. Don't worry, you're safe now. I'm here with you." He kissed the back of my hand while pressing the pedal.
I was too weak to respond to his words and I choose to close my eyelids, hoping that it will take away all the pain from me.
"Love, please hang on there."
That was the last sentence that echoed in my ears before I drift into a world without any pain.
