Dexter POV
Instead of sending her to the hospital, I called the regular doctor that we normally deal with if we need any medical attention. We have space in the mansion for medical purposes where normally my men that got injured will be treated in the room, the same goes for any workers that need medical help. It completed with some basic medical equipment too.
Doctor Derrick which was in his late 50s came with his assistant, and they were in the room nursing her. I waited outside the bedroom, giving them space to do their job efficiently.
I paced outside the room like a crazy guy since they arrived. Not long after that, the door finally swung open, and I immediately approached them. His assistant walked past us after a quick nod, giving us space so that I can talk to the doctor personally.
"How is she doing?" I asked instantly before he gives me head-ups.
"Don't fret, she is in a good condition but there are things that I need to remind you of. As you know, her pregnancy is still in the early stage. During this period, normally a pregnant woman is very fragile. You need to be attentive to their emotion because that affected their mood and the baby." A smile on his face persuaded me that it wasn't a big thing to worry about, but I totally have a different opinion on that.
"I got your message. Meaning to say leaving her alone for a while will be the best decision."
"Don't treat her like one of you man, son. Try not to push her so much about things that she dislikes. She might be oversensitive during the pregnancy. You know, women, they are unique and very unpredictable." He patted my shoulder like a father figure. I gave him a faint smile, silently agreed with his statement. They are indeed very unpredictable.
"Alright, I will try," I assured him in a defeated tone. "How about her memory?"
"It will regain slowly by time. Everything is still in her head but there were some blur parts like those missing puzzles. Just follow the flow and give her some time to remember it naturally. Don't put any pressure on her."
I sighed as I mentally take notes on his advice. I nodded my head.
"Alright, since everything is clear here, I will leave her to you. I trust your ability to take care of her, so I wouldn't expect any call from you after this." A chuckle left his mouth. He had worked for me for quite a long time which made him understand me. Giving advice is something that he loved to do.
"I won't expect myself to call you neither and tell you that she faints again but do expect for some advice's request about my pregnant wife. You know, it is my first time and I have to admit that I'm not good at this."
"You will learn as the time pass until you have the second, third, fourth and the list goes on. Just don't screw up with her." I shook my head, totally agreed with him.
"Sigh. I don't even know if I can pass the first stage."
"Rest assured about that. Alright, son. Gotta go."
"Sure, thank you for the advice." He patted my shoulder for the last time before descended the stairs but not before turning his head and shot me the last piece of warning. "Oh ya, almost forget to warn you, be prepared for the mood swing." He winked before disappearing from my sight completely.
"Mood swing..." I trailed off, repeating the last piece of his warning. I was in my deep thought until the familiar voice of my sweetheart plastered my ears. She stood beside me holding my hand which forces me to lower my head and gaze at her.
"Daddy, how is mommy? Can I see her?"
"Doctor said she is fine. We can see her, but she needs some rest, so we need to stay quiet inside the room." I whispered the last few words.
She nodded her head and lifted her index finger near her lips. "Let's go." She uttered in a low tone and pulled my hand towards the room.
I twisted the doorknob and pushed it slowly, allowing her to get in the room first before closing the door behind. We slowly approached the bed where she was still in her deep slumber. Maybe it will be better this way or else we will start our argument again. I kept repeating the doctor's advice in my head, hoping that I won't screw up anything.
"Mommy is sleeping." Andrea's voice snapped me out of my thought.
I bend over to say something to her. "Yes, sweetheart. She is sleeping. Maybe our little Anderson is tired, so mommy needs more rest."
"But mommy is not sick, right?" Concern clouded her face while she looked at me and Elsie back and forth.
"Don't worry about that, sweetheart." I caressed her face, reassuring her. She is too young to worry about anything around her and I don't want to put her in that situation. I'm her guardian and I should be the one who carries all the burden and swept all the problems away from her.
"Maybe we let mommy sleep some time and later we wake her up for the food. Okay, daddy?" I smiled at her for acting like an adult.
"Okay." I ruffled her hair making it a bit messy which caused her to chuckle quietly before we leave the room.
