                          Aiden

My talk with my father didn't go do well...

I tried to reason with him, to try to get him to see what has happened. What happiness could blossom within my life now... what happiness I could feel with my mate by my side.

I couldn't keep her from my mind. Even though I only seen the wolf side of her it was enough to keep any important thoughts away from me.

Golden eyes stared back at me every time I closed my eyes.

Silky strands of her long and luscious fur could be felt at the tips of my fingers.

Her sweet smell filled my nose. The honeyed fragrance making my mouth water.

The warmth of her body next to mine and the sound of her soft, shallow breathing filled my ears.

God, I wish I could see her again. And I had planned too. Until I was told my to-be-forced mate's father, another alpha to another pack, was coming.

I convinced my father to talk to him, to call off this engagement so I could be with my one and only.

And he did. Well, he talked to him and now he was here. Over the week I was kept from my mate he had arrived. Claiming I would mark and complete the bond with his daughter by bedding her in the same night.

That I would not do.

I'd fight him on this, fight my father on this... start a war over it if I wasn't granted leave of this arrangement.

'Damn right we would.' My wolf snarled.

In the few heated conversations with myself and the other alpha my wolf surfaced. Meeting his wolf one on one. I could barely keep him at bay, to keep him from challenging the alpha head on.

All of this happened over the course of a week. Now, I was to meet with the Council about a rogue found on our land... hunting no less. They knew better than to do things like that. On unclaimed lands it was fine to hunt game but not on pack territory.

I rubbed my fingers along the bridge of my nose, an attempt to dull my sour mood. I filled my thoughts with my magnificent mate... I could smell her in the air, which was odd. It was strong and fresh like she was standing in this room...

Someone cleared their throat and I opened my eyes only to see her.

My mate. My mate. Standing before me stark naked and cuffed with silver chains. I didn't even have time to take in her human form... the first time I got to see her like that and it had to be like this.

I slammed my fist onto the mahogany desk as I stood." Eveyone out!" I growled. My chest heaved harshly and my crystal blue eyes darkened as my wolf surfaced.

Everyone jumped at my sudden outburst but made no point in defying me. They moved quickly, even the old ones moved faster than I'd ever seen.

Once the door was shut firmly behind the last person I looked at my dear mate.

Her shell of confidence seemed to have shattered, her head held so confidently before was now hung low, she wouldn't even meet my eyes. Sandy hair was tangled and a mess, her body dirty with the filth of the dungeons she'd been kept in for only a day.

If I had knew it was her they had taken prisoner I wouldn't have allowed her to stay there...

I forced my eyes to remain focused on her face. We wolves didn't care much about our kind in the nude but our mates.... that was a different story. It was more difficult when the bond hadn't been completed, if they weren't bitten and mated. The bond drove us to each other, drove us to make one another ours. It was hard to stay calm and collected when she was in this state before me.

Swallowing I took a few steps toward her." I'm sorry I didn't know sooner..." The sound of my voice visibly made her shiver, not from fear but merely because of the sound of my voice.

I tugged the material of my shirt over my head and approached her the rest of the way. Gently, I helped her into it. Once she was covered she slowly lifted her eyes to connect with mine.

Just like the first time the sight of those pristine golden hues took my breath. I quickly composed myself." If I had went to see you like I was supposed to yesterday then you wouldn't have had stay in the dungeons. I wouldn't have allowed it."

Silence. Silence was what I was meant with. Then I heard a scratchy voice after a minute. Probably from her not using it much. But, nonetheless, her voice was angelic."...It's okay." She whispered, the face she made at the sound of her own voice made the corner of my mouth tilted upward.

I couldn't help myself. I needed to know who she was." I'm Aiden... soon to be alpha of the pack. Crescent Moon." At the mention of being the next alpha in line her eyes slightly widened. She didn't offer her name so I asked." And your name is?"

" Ferrum." She spoke, her voice louder than a whisper this time." I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing when they took me... I only meant to eat and leave once I was finished."

I shook my head." It's fine... your fine now. I won't let them take you back down there. It isn't somewhere anyone should be but my father insists on it." I noticed how we were just standing there so I urged her to take a seat and she did although somewhat hesitant about it.

I brough her a glass of water and something to snack on which she dug into quickly. I sat beside her, gently taking her small hand into my large one." I wanted to come see you again... it's just... I-I have been dealing with a bit of a problem and I want to tell you before you hear it from someone else."

And then that problem walked in at the second.

" Aiden." Her voice was like nails to a chalk board to my ears. I looked up and Ferrum turned to look at Chelsea. The woman was in her own world, to busy to see me and my mate speaking at the moment." My father wants to know when this mating ceremony will be taking place between the two of us."

And there it went. The something I was beginning to tell my mate.

I looked at her as she looked at me. The hurt in her eyes as clear as day but she masked it all too quickly. I growled, my hands forming fists as I glared at Chelsea." Don't you see I'm busy right now, Chelsea? Get your head out of your ass for a second and pay attention for once. Leave. Now." I growled once more.

She was shocked, and ready to say something but the moment my blazing eyes landed on her for the last time she turned tail and left the room.

Leaving an awkward air between myself and Ferrum.

" I was just about to tell-" I started but didn't get the chance to finish when my mates voice cut in.

" It's fine. You don't owe me an explanation for what goes on in your life... who you are with and who you want to mark is none of my business even if we are mates." Her words admittedly hurt, it was like a hand reached inside my chest and squeezed my heart. The pain she felt was clear as day in her voice though she tried to remain stoic.

" It is your business what happens in my life and that is why I am telling you that that ceremony will not be happening." I gave her a moment to digest my words before continuing." That is why I haven't come to see you in a week... I've been talking with my father to end the arrangement made a year ago when I wasn't able to find my mate. But that's changed obviously..."

I grabbed her hand. For a second she pulled away but then she allowed it.

The electric currents that flowed between us was amazing... such a wonderful feeling.

" I will do anything to have you by my side, Ferrum." Again, she shivered deliciously but this time at the way her name rolled off my tongue. I said it again and got the same reaction." I will walk through hell and high water just to have you."

And that was the god honest truth.
