Maria had made her way into the kitchen, starting on the stew. She had a hunch Levi hadn't been in his office yet and although she wouldn't expect an exuberant reaction from the stoic man, she was curious if he would even remotely like the tea she bought him.
While cutting up some vegetables, the yellow flower from this afternoon caught her eye. Someone must have put it in a vase. She hadn't expected him to buy her one in the first place. Sunflowers were her favorite, and she couldn't help but think about his sweet gesture. Which also reminded her, she shouldn't forget to take the vase to her room later that evening.
"You're making stew huh?" Maria looked up. Hanji stood in the door-opening, grinning. "Yes, what of it?" She hummed while she continued to cut up the vegetables.
"Levi likes stew." She casually noted. "Yes, I'm well aware, but what are you insinuating? Everyone here likes stew."
"I figured you got Levi out of his office, presuming he has a soft spot for you. I'm glad." "Ah, about that. You sent an urgent message about an incident regarding Eren that took place yesterday? Meaning I had to quit training and come here? For what exactly?" Maria asked hinting back at the report from Ness this morning.
Hanji scratched the back of her neck. "Well, you see..." "I wouldn't move if I were you, you're aware I've got a knife, right?" She knew her dear friend well enough to tell that she was thinking about something regarding Levi.
"Ha haa... You wouldn't." "I'm not bluffing and you know it." She smiled at her friend while gathering some carrots and throwing them in a pot. "Besides, after seeing Levi's face, when Oruo told him you kept Eren from his stable duty, I don't think you've heard the last of it."
Hanji pouted. "Such meanies, you two fit perfectly together." "Please cut it out, before I will live up to my words." The woman just smirked in response.
"But about that message, Eren turned into a titan while picking up a spoon." "Yes, I know." "You've heard? I wasn't very specific in my letter." Hanji tapped her chin. "Eld told me."
"That doesn't change the fact it happened yesterday and I had to quit training." The sounds of cutting filled the kitchen again. "But nevermind that now." Hanji's eyes fell upon the sunflower but decided not to ask Maria about it. Instead, she changed the subject to the boy Maria had been worrying about.
"Did you get the chance to talk to that boy?" "I did." Maria's mouth curled up. Hanji couldn't help but feel a little relieved. "You're alright then?" "I am."
"Call me sentimental, but he's grown so much. If things went differently back then, I-" She suddenly fell silent, looking at the yellow flower on her right. "You're sure you are alright?" "Yeah, it's just that I realize, I wouldn't have met you if it did. You, Erwin, Levi. I'm glad to have you as my friends." She beamed.
"Aww, Mimi..." The brunette woman snorted while wiping away some imaginary tears. "Just don't tell Mike that, he would feel left out." "Hanji, I really should whoop your ass right now. I tried to create an emotional moment here."
"Well, that's my cue to leave, bye." Maria waved Hanji off as she sighed.

"I'm so hungry, I can eat a horse." Oruo huffed. Eren snickered at his remark, thinking about a certain male. "Oh, I heard from Hanji, Maria is making stew," Eld replied. "It should be ready any moment now."
"Stew!" Petra shot up, almost drooling. "What's so special about Maria's stew?" Eren asked. All eyes were fixed on the young boy. "You'll find out." Gunther grinned.
