Erwin had a scowl on his face. Anyone could see he was trying to hold back his anger.
"You brought Maria, against my wishes." Levi and Hanji didn't seem to be fazed by his angry undertone.
"She's my Lieutenant." Levi simply stated. Normally, the two of them wouldn't go against him, but this time they felt like Erwin was wrong.
"Did you ask them to do this?" Erwin's hard gaze fell upon Maria. "Really Erwin?" She scoffed in response, but Hanji was fast to answer the question for her. "This was my idea. She didn't know until I ordered to put her on the carriage. I take full responsibility."
"From Hanji I could've seen this coming, but you?" Erwin cast his blue eyes on Levi. And if the situation hadn't been so serious, Maria would've burst out in laughter. Erwin looked like he was scolding his kids, something that was a rare sight to behold.
Actually, Maria couldn't blame the man at all. Levi normally went through with anything the blond man said, even Hanji did. This was the first time they went against his wishes, and it didn't look like Erwin was gonna drop it soon.
"Look Erwin, it's not like I'm going anywhere soon. I'll just keep the other Cadets company and stay here with Levi..."
The commander let out a small sigh. "Fine."
"It's settled then, right?" Hanji clasped her hands together with a wide grin. "Shorty will babysit Mim-" "I'm not babysitting anyone four-eyes, Bambi is a grown-ass woman."
"Geez Hanji, thanks..." Maria mumbled while Erwin rubbed his thick eyebrows with a slight hint of irritation. "That's enough Hanji... Maria, just stay here alright?" The man almost seemed to plead to her. He then cast a last glance at the raven-haired man on her right, before leaving the room.
Hanji chuckled and shot the honey-blonde a subtle wink. "See, I told you this would work."
Levi gave the woman a blank stare before letting out his signature 'tch'.
"You know I can't stay here, shitty glasses." "Yeah, but you'll be back soon enough and hopefully the Pastor will finally decide to talk..." The brunette muttered.

After the whole 'Erwin finding out about Maria' disaster, the honey-blonde decided to retreat to one of the empty rooms. In order to get some rest and ease her mind, she had brought out the small book she kept in the pocket of her vest.
Maria let out a deep sigh as she turned to the last page of her book, almost finished with it for the third time this week. She was inclined to ask someone for a new one but didn't want to bother anyone. As her doe-eyes scanned the page, she heard the sound of a heavy door opening. The blonde looked up to see Levi come in. He shut the door behind him and closed his eyes for a few seconds.
"Are you alright?" "Fine." Was his short but firm response. "Had to force the pig to watch," Maria clapped her book shut as a sign he had her full attention. "The refugees you mean?" Levi let out a soft hum as he rubbed the bridge of his nose. "You seem awfully calm." The young woman noted.
Levi however did not respond. He felt frustrated the pastor would only tell them so much and still withheld the truth due to their so-called 'sacred will'.
