"But I do accept it." These words took the commander by surprise. "I accept your apology, Erwin, but not because I pity you. It's because I'm convinced you care." She sighed out. Erwin wasn't sure how to respond to her, because he didn't expect her to forgive him this easily. But the truth was, she'd already forgiven him. Maria could never stay mad for long, not at people who were important to her.
"I can't hold you back now can I? I feel your motives have changed." "You can't convince me to leave the survey corps, even if you hold me back, I'm not here to die." Maria smiled.
"Might as well let you then, like I should've done from the start, Lieutenant." Erwin sighed as he pulled up the corner of his mouth.
"Look, I know it's highly inappropriate because you're my Commander, but I'm still gonna do it because I consider you my friend as well." The blond male pulled up his thick eyebrow, not quite sure what she was getting at until Maria pulled him forward to enclose her arms around him. Surprised by her sudden action to hug him, Erwin wrapped his left arm around her small frame.
"I sure didn't expect you to do this," His hearty laugh boomed in her right ear. Her motherly side taking over again, Maria couldn't help but reassure and comfort him in this way. "Everyone needs an embrace every now and then." She muttered with her head leaning over his shoulder.

In the meanwhile, Levi had to settle some business with one of the scouts who'd allegedly brought Maria's horse in the day before. However, this turned out to be the wrong animal. Thus, when they arrived at HQ, Levi had the poor scout pick up the right horse before they would return to the stables.
Right after, he made a short detour to stop by Hanji's office and get the belts of Maria's gear. The scientist had made sure to adjust the straps so she would be able to use them when the time came.
As he now made his way back to Erwin's room, he eyed some of the MP's before turning a corner, just to be stopped by a familiar voice.
"Captain Levi!" Levi turned to look at the auburn-haired girl calling for him. She held a tray with a teapot and some cups. "Captain Levi, sir!" She repeated herself before she stopped in front of him.
"Nifa." Levi spoke in a greeting manner. "Are you by any chance heading to Commander Erwin's room?" Nifa asked, nodding towards the direction the blond-haired Commander was in.
"I am, is something the matter?" "Not at all. I saw the Lieutenant enter his room a little while ago. I was going to bring him tea, but now I don't want to disturb them mid-conversation, given they might be discussing something important." Without really saying anything, Levi outstretched his empty hand so he could take over the tray.
"If it's not too much, sir." She apologized immediately. "It'll be fine. Thank you, Nifa." With that, he resumed his way to Erwin's chambers. Even though his hands were now preoccupied with holding Maria's gear and Erwin's tea, he managed to make it to the door. Not wanting to ask anyone to aid him some help, he determined it would be fine to not knock this once.
Levi pushed down the door handle with his elbow and managed to open the door with his back. Turning around he came face to face with the sight of Maria and Erwin hugging each other. His grey eyes took in the sight before he decided to open his mouth.
"Am I interrupting something?" The ravenette snarled. This made the two look up and detangle themselves from each other. "Not at all Levi. Just a friendly embrace." "I am sure," He muttered in response, dropping Maria's gear in the far corner of the room.
