"What you want?" Futakuchi asked you. You guys had already gotten there and were ordering.
"No, it's okay. I could get it." You told him.
"Nah, it's fine. Whatchu want?" He insisted.
"Number 1." You replied. Since he offered and didn't seem like he was going to change his mind without a fight, you just went with it, not going to decline such a generous offer.
"Mayonnaise or mustard?"
"(Whichever you prefer, I personally love mayo, I think I have an obsession)"
"Drink?"
"(Favorite drink, mines tea)"
"Y'all's order will be ready in 5-10 minutes." The counter guy told you two, handing you guys the number.
"Thank you, sir." Futakuchi politely replied, taking the number. "44." Futakuchi read. "That number haunts me everywhere." Futakuchi told you. (True story though. First my favorite NFL player Marlon Humphrey from the Baltimore Ravens is number 44, then Hisoka, and then I just see it everywhere. Like for example everytime I check the time it's always something 44 like my parents literally woke me up at 7:44 am on Christmas)
"Hey, can I ask you a question Futakuchi nervously asked you.
"Sure, what's up?"
"So the school is having a dance on Saturday. I was wondering if you wanted to go with me." He looked at you hopefully.
"Ummm..."
"It starts at 7, but we don't have to be there immediately because it ends at 12, so we're good." Futakuchi replied. "Also you could call me by my first name if you'd like." He added.
"Okay, then... Kenji." You slowly said. It was going to take some getting used to, but you've always really liked his first name anyways. "Same for me, (first name) is fine."
Kenji gave you a small smile. Before any of you could say any more, the food arrived. "Thank you." You both told the person who delivered your food.
As you ate, you thought about everything. About how you were drifting away from Terushima, about how you were now on first name basis with Futakuchi after only knowing him for a week, about how he asked you to the dance that you had no idea about on Saturday, about how Numajiri asked you on a date on Saturday... wait... SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! Numajiri had also asked you to dinner with him around 8 for y'all's date. Damn, you were going to have to choose one over the other. Maybe you could just tell one of them that you're busy. But which one?!?! (You guys choose, I stuck)
"You good?" You blinked as you realized Kenji had been staring at you. "You're always drifting off to space." He noted.
"Uhh, yeah. I have lots to think about."
"Like what? You're thinking about Terushima, aren't you?" Kenji asked you, while taking a bite out of his burger.
"Nah, I'm not thinking about anything in particular right now though." You told him.
"You're contradicting yourself, y/n." He nonchalantly said, very into his burger.
"W-whatever." You replied as you lightly laughed at how into his burger he was.
"Hey, I wouldn't be talking. You have mayonnaise all over your face." Kenji laughed at you, handing you a napkin. You quickly turned red in embarrassment, snatching the napkin from him, and wiped your face.
"Oh!" Kenji blurted out randomly. "You never said yes about going to the dance with me."
"Bold of you to assume I'm going to say 'yes'." you told him in response, wiping your face after every bite. You watched Kenji as he slowly looked away, disappointed, but trying to hide it. You immediately felt bad and blurted out "yes" just as you had done with Numajiri.
Kenji's eyes immediately lit up as he was trying to not let on a big dorky smile. "Really?!" He exclaimed in surprise. "Well, of course you said yes, I mean look at me, how could you not." You playfully smacked him in return and immediately regretted it as he started over reacting again. You rolled your eyes at him as he opened a ketchup packet and started squirting it, pretending it was blood.
"Ahhh, I'm bleeding. Bleeding everywhere!"
You threw a fry at him, trying to get him to shut up. He threw a fry at you in return and you two started a small food fight.
"I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to ask you two to stop or otherwise leave." An employee warned, moving aside as a fry went flying her way.
"Oh, I'm so so so so sorry, ma'am." You immediately apologized. The employee's face softened a bit towards you as she nodded in return.
"Umm, sorry...?" Kenji awkwardly apologized. "Will you accept a fry in turn?" He asked, holding out a fry to her.
"No." She harshly said, walking away.
"Rude." Kenji muttered. "Well, at least I tried giving her an apology gift. Can't say I didn't, I have witnesses."
After thirty more minutes of back and forth playful bickering, you finally decided to leave, as it was already around 6:30 p.m (18:00).
When you get home
"Where were you?" Your mom asked once you got home.
"With a friend."
"Okay, then." You mom replied. "As long as you made it back alive and safely. Well, good night then."
"Good night." You replied, slightly confused by your mom's odd behavior.
You then took a shower and got ready for bed. You took out your phone one last time before going to sleep to see you had a text from Rintaro.
"Good night, Cutie!😘"
It read. You smiled and texted him:
"Good night, my prince.🥰"
Though for whatever reason, you didn't feel complete.
