(Roman POV)
I hid in the corner of a random alley, trying my best to stay hidden from the royal guards. All I wanted was one day where I could be free. One day where I was not "Prince Roman". Just once I wanted to be only "Roman".
As I am contemplating my existence I hear a creak come from the roof. I look up and see beautiful violet eyes staring down at me. I run as fast as I can in hopes of escaping. All of a sudden a figure jumped down directly in front of me, cutting off my path. I stop and look at them as they rose to peer up at me.
They were smaller than I was, slender but not weak. Violet eyes looked directly at me, slightly hidden by black and purple hair. I stand up trying to look as intimidating as possible.
"Let me pass," I say, trying to mimic my father. The small boy in front of me scoffs and rolls his eyes, "I said let me pa-"
"Yes I heard you" he interrupts. His voice was smoother than I imagined, but his tone was full of bite. Honestly, he scared me a bit.
"Then move" The boy pauses and looks up, knitting his eyebrows together.
"You see I could do that," He turns and looks at me with a mischievous glint in his eye, "But where's the fun in that?" I scoff. The audacity he has to talk to me in such a way.
"Do you even know who I am?" Just as he was about to answer there is a loud clang of metal at the entrance to the alleyway.
"They found me!" We both looked at each other, confusion all over our faces. They were after him? Why would the royal guard be looking for him.
The boy seemed to contemplate something before looking me directly in the eye.
"Come with me."
"What?"
He scoffs. "If you don't want to be caught then come with me." He extends his hand for me to take. Two choices. I have two choices. I can go with this random boy or I can go back to the castle with the guards. I can go home and face my father wrath for sneaking out of the castle; go back home to my boring life of "royal duties", or I can take the hand of this street boy. This... very mysterious, violet eyed male who could help me gain just a little more time out of the castle walls.
Well this is a no brainer.
I took his hand as he smirked, glancing over my shoulder at the incoming soldiers. How in the world was he going to get the two of us out of here. He glanced around the alley, his nose scrunched and his brows knit into a frown in concentration. As he looked around his eyes stopped on a large barrel behind the guards. He let go of my hand as he took a few steps back.
"Wait here." he said before taking off towards the guards. They began to draw their swords to strike but as soon as they were out and ready, the boy was already on the other side of them. He jumped over using the wall to propel himself over. With a grunt he knocks the barrel onto its' side. Before the knights can figure out what is going on, the barrel is rolling towards them, knocking them all down.
"Come on!" he shouts, gesturing towards me. I pause and look at the fallen guards before jumping over them, taking the boys hand yet again. I hold on tight as he pulls me through hidden alleyways and corridors until we are on a main road, the castle only a few hundred meters away. The boy stares at the gates for a second and shakes his head.
"HEY! GET BACK HERE!" a guard, sword raised, shouts at us. Their metal armor is filled with dents most likely from the barrel and the other soldiers. The boy begins running again, dragging me along. We jump over crates and carts full of items being sold in the market. The sound of the soldier still shouting is clear as day.
All of a sudden out of no where, the boy pulls me to the side into yet another alleyway. There are a pair of doors which he yanks open.
"Get in" he told me. I look at him very confused before I find myself being pushed into the pit.
"What in the he-" I am cut off by the sound of feet landing on the ground next to me and two doors shutting. "Did you really just push me? I cannot believe you pushed me you irritating fool!" A hand is placed tight over my mouth. I try to wriggle out but the boy points up above us. The knight is right there. Right on top.
I nod in understanding but he does not let go, his eyes boring holes into the doors above. Sounds of the soldier walking echo through my ears. I am both in fear, and full of adrenaline. The guard walks up to the doors we hide behind and pulls on them only to find it locked. He pulls again harder, the locks and chains clanging.
"They must have found another way out," the guard says.
"There is no other bloody way out. They must be in there!" Another voice can be heard slightly a ways away, "Get the damn clippers and open this open wont ya?!?" My eyes grow wide in fear. I look up at the boy, his hand still tight around my mouth. We had backed ourselves up into a corner of the small room. He does not look back at me. Instead he merely stairs right at the doors and mutters something under his breath.
"Here. Use these." The men above grunt. There is the sound of metal on metal before the doors are pulled open. I squeak but luckily the sound is muffled. Two guards jump into the small cellar and search around, their hands on the hilts of their swords. One guard looks straight at me... but It is like he couldn't see me. The boy with violet eyes is still muttering something but now he looks at the guards.
"looks like this place is clear." One of the guards say.
"Let's get out of here then. We need to find the prince and whatever street rat took him." And just like that the men dissapeared.
Ahhhhhh crap.
