I would recommend rereading chapter 24 just for a quick recap since I did the classic thing of not posting for like a month again....

(Virgil's POV)
The moment those words left Logan's mouth, my magic flickered. Usually when I start to lose my grip on the energy, I can regain it quickly, but this time was different. The flickering never stopped. My eyes shifted from the cloudy purple to the simple violet, all the wisps around me slowly starting to dissipate. Everything around became slightly blurry for a moment before a whisper in the back of my mind brought me back to the present.
Don't let go
I didn't know what it was but the small voice continued on.
Keep holding on. Fight it
And I did. With whatever little strength I had left, I did as the voice said. I fought.
You are strong. Keep fighting.
The voice continued to whisper in my head, telling me not to let go. Not to give up. Whoever it was, they refused to let me crumble.
"I will," my voice was so soft that thankfully no one heard it. With a deep breath, I closed my eyes and focused; Allowing the energy to fully surround me.
That's it, Virgil. Keep fighting.
I felt the energy crawl up my arms like little needle pricks all throughout. It was very strong, but I held on, never losing my grip on it.
Keep holding on. Be strong Virgil.
My eyes open and the world is clearer than it ever has been. The control I had was overwhelming. The strength unlike anything I had ever experienced. My magic does not control me. The energy does not consume me. I refuse to allow it to.
"Wha-" I looked up to see the king take a step back, with good reason to, "you should have crumbled. How ar-"
"You cannot hurt me." My voice was calm and stern. Something it had never been before. I raise a hand up to him and with a small flick, the few guards left are flung away, leaving the king defenseless. Slowly, my hand turns over, reaching out to him, "hand over the pendant and nothing shall happen to you."
"Never!" He shouts. The feeble man turns and tries to run to a sword that had been left on the floor when the guards were thrown. My hand rests back at my side as I float towards the terrified king.
"No harm shall come to you. Just hand over what is not yours," The king hugged the necklace to his chest, curling himself into a ball. All it took was my stare to make him cower. The old man screams out in pain. Throughout his skin, little bumps rise up and move around, "give it me." Once again my hand reaches out.
The king shakes his head before screaming in pain once more.
"Then," my voice is cold, "you shall die." I did not move from my place, only stared into the very depth's of the king's soul. He screams and shouts for help but no one moves.
"Virgil," Logan calls out to me. Trying to stop the torture being inflicted on the king, "Virgil that's enough." The room grows quiet as the feeble man whimpers in pain. I turn to look at Logan who wears a face of concern and fear, "That's enough, Virgil."
"No," Logan takes a step forward.
"This is not how we should do this. This is not who we are." There was a small, pained laugh. Everyone turned to the hunched over man.
"Like father like son I see." L takes a step in front of me but I place a hand on his shoulder forcing him to step aside.
"Do not speak of my father."
"I shall you filthy child. He was a horrible man. An evil king. You think I'm horrible? I'm nothing compared to him."
"Quiet!" My eyes cloud over as the king once again writhes in pain, squirming as the bumps grow larger and larger before I let him go again. Silence fills the room once more. From the corner of my eye I watch as Janus and the Prince walk over to my sides. I refuse to look at either of them.
The king laughs again.
"I am to die."
"correct," I reply.
His nimble hand reveals the pendant. With a forceful tug, the stone is ripped away from the corner. Slowly, the king stands to his feet, "Then no one shall have this."
"NO!" It was blur, only lasting a few seconds but what truly felt like a lifetime. The necklace lay on the cold floor, shattered into pieces with the late king collapsed nearby. I watched Logan step away, pulling Princey, Remy and Emilia. Janus and I stood there watching as a plume of green and yellow smoke rose from the shards.
As the smoke rises, I try to pull De but he refuses to move. Logan continued to shout, trying to get us away but still Janus stood, almost as if he was in a trance. I ripped myself from Logan as I watched the green and yellow swirls make there way to Janus.
"De!" If he heard me, he made no movement. The swirls encircle him before entering his eyes and mouth causing a slight glow to take over.
What was happening.
I watched as my friend suddenly turned to me, his eyes glowing.
"De?" There was a smirk on his face as he stared me down, though it wasn't his. It was as if he was a different person.
"Virgil get away from him!" Logan shouts. I didn't listen.
"De?" Janus bowed before me in a playful way before standing up straight.
"I have been called many things but this De I am not."
"Who are you?"
"Why you should know my dear Virgil. After all, we are blood." we are blood? Noticing I was not quite understand he bows once more, holding the bow and looking at me with his devilish smirk, "You may call me Malick, little one.
The moon king."
