So... how's life guys?

Alright back to the story

///

(Virgil's POV)

I watched silently as Princey jumped the wall with some girl. I think she was a princess? From his pocket fell the one thing I had been tasked with retrieving.

Finally, some good luck.

When the coast was clear, I bolted to the trees in search of the pendant. He had just dropped it. It couldn't have disappeared that quickly. My hands dug through the dirt till they came upon a dark chord. I pulled on it, revealing a black stone attached to the end. My eye were enchanted by the pendants beauty. Just one touch. That's what my mind wanted me to do. Just hold the pendant in my hand...

No.

I am not doing that again after what happened the last time. From my pocket I pulled out a piece cloth which I used to wrap up the pendant and place back into my pocket. When no one was watching, I ran back towards the castle heading towards the secret door to the dungeon. Quickly, I snuck through and made my way to Janus.

Past the crying prisoners and stench of death, I continued on until I reached the last cell in the last hall.

"Janus," I called out quietly. His head turned to me, the single yellow eye shining in the faint light. With a small, hopeful smile, he hurried to the bars and gripped them tightly, his knuckles turning white. De looked worse than the last time I came to see him. His scar was much more sickly looking, the black hair on his head now matted down eve further with blood, sweat, and mud. All over him were more scars than the previous week.

"did you get it? he asked. I disregarded his question.

"De we need to get you out of here. You won't make it to the end of the week if we don't-"

"Shut up, V. Right now, my life is of least importance. There are greater things at stake. Now," Janus looked me dead in the eye, "did you get it?" I nodded. Carefully, I pulled from my pocket, the pendant wrapped in cloth and unwrapped it to show him. I watched as De sucked in a breathe.

"De, what's wrong?" He shook his head.

"Nothing it's just. It's been so long since I've seen it. I thought it would be long gone by now but here it is," his fingers stretched slowly towards it, "here in front of me." When I saw his hand reaching from the corner of my eye I quickly wrapped the pendant and put in deep into my pocket.

"De, what is so important about this necklace?" Silence, "De?"

"No." Was his only reply.

"What do you mean no?"

"I mean that you aren't ready to know the truth. Telling you could ruin everything. You just- You aren't ready ok?" He walked away from the bars, sitting himself on the hay.

"Please, De. Anything. Give me something." He sighed.

"I made a promise and it is one I don't intend on breaking anytime soon." Janus laid himself back in the scratchy hay, staring up at the ceiling, "You will find out in time." Knowing I wouldn't be getting any answers anytime soon I started to walk away and back to Roman's chambers, "Wait." I stopped and looked over at Janus.

"What."

"Logan sent word back. He is breaking us out." I nod in understanding, "he is getting us out. tonight."

"Wait tonight?"

"I'm sorry did I stutter? Yes tonight. You have the pendant. Now we need to get out of here." There was a long, painful silence before one of us spoke.

"But what if I don't want to leave?" I could hear the rustling from the hay as Janus slowly sat up. The feeling of his eyes on my back drilled holes in me.

"V..." he started, "I'm sorry but... we don't have a choice." With a slight nod I walked away, not saying another word. The feeling of his eyes on me remained until I turned the corner, running towards the secret door.

I know I have to leave but...

There is something here that makes me want to stay. Too bad I can't pinpoint exactly what.

--- (A/N OMG a time skip?? whaaaaa????)

(Yea it's still Virgil tho..)

It was hours before Princey finally came back to his chambers. Night had begun to fall and Remy and I were having a hard time covering for him at this point. He was humming as he came in and didn't seem to notice me scrubbing his floors until a loud yelp rang through the room. I turn to see Princey on the ground, propping himself up by his elbows with a grimace.

"Falling for me already? I'm touched." He looked up at me before his rolling his eyes, "aww. Nothing to say?"

"Shut it, Malick. Help me up," As i stand up and put my hand out for him I bow dramatically.

"As you wish, sir." Princey groans.

"You are intolerable."

"And you are a pain in my ass." We both glare at each other before breaking into laughter. As the laughter died down, Princey sat at his desk, staring down at a piece of parchment paper. Trying not to disturb him, I began picking up my cleaning tools and making my way to the door before his voice stopped me.

"Where are you going?" Before turning around, I put the bucket and rag on the floor. I shrugged.

"I just thought you would want to be alone after the adventurous day you had." He tilted his head in confusion. God he can be dense sometimes, "don't play dumb. I know you climbed over the wall with a girl." His eyes grew slightly wide for a moment before he brushed it off.

"And? What's it to you?" he paused, "you aren't planning on telling anyone are you?" I smirk.

"Don't worry. I'm not that evil" His shoulders relaxed as he gave a sigh of relief.

"thank god. now get over here so I can tell you all about it."

"Isn't that what Remy's for?"

"Do you see him anywhere? No. So you are going to listen to my problems instead." He beckoned me over.

"You know I can go get him for yo-"

"I swear to the sun gods, shut up and sit down." He patted his bed. Defeated, I walked over, abandoning my pail and rags. As soon as I sat down he began talking and telling me of his day. Him and the princess, her name was Emilia with an E I think, ran all around the city and through the market. He told me how he took her to a merchant who sold different pieces of jewelry whom he had bought from before, and that the princess picked out this gorgeous sun kingdom piece. Almost five minutes he described the necklace to me.

"Okay, I get it. The necklace was nice. Continue." He laughed and continued his story. To be honest, I was only half listening. That is until he talked about a dark alleyway and how he took her there.

"I wanted to show her where I met Virgil. You remember me telling you about Virgil right?" I nod nervously, "Anyways I took her to the first alleyway where the barrel still was from the escape. I told her all about how he jumped over the guard and knocked them all down by himself. It was amazing. Then I took her over to the other alleyway we hid in where we hid and the guards came and he protected us from them. It was so cool. Magical even..." I scoffed slightly.

"It couldn't be that magical I mean... you were in a cellar so it must have been easy to hide right?" Princey paused before looking up at me. His green eyes were full of suspicion.

"Malick," he started, "Malick I never said anything about a cellar."
