Why hello there ;)
Time for another update hahaha

(Roman POV)
Father and I had.... quite the discussion.
He asked (more like interrogated) me on who Virgil was. Luckily I was able to keep my promise to Remy. No matter how intense father got, no matter how much he tried to terrify me, I kept my answers vague.
After my questioning, the king gave a huff and had me follow him down to the dungeons where he forced me to "persuade" many prisoners. It was horrible and I hated every second I was made to do such horrible things.
"That's enough for today. Have someone clean up the mess and you may go to your quarters until supper." I nodded as the king left me alone in the dungeons. The smell of rotting flesh and human waste was thick in the air, like a blanket slowly suffocating us. I look over to the last prisoner whom now hung lifeless from the shackles hanging from the ceiling holding her up.
Her orange-tinted hair shot in every direction, some clinging to her face with sweat and tears. The womans limp toes lightly grazed the floor. The most saddening part of the scene was her face. It seemed frozen in time, but in a time where she was at peace. She was a witch, she told us, from our own kingdom. A bender of light to be more exact.
And we killed her.
I killed her.
Slowly, I walked over to her form and, with my hand, delicately pushed her eyelids closed. My hand fell back to my side as I just stared at her.
"Your highness," A small voice from behind called out. I didnt move, "Your highness I hate to disturb you, but... uh... the king sent us to clean the mess." Slowly, I turned around and looked at the dungeon entrance. My eyes landed on a young servant with light hair and an innocent face. A small group of servants stood close behind. I tried to hold myself up as I nodded in acknowledgement.
"Yes, of course. Please don't let me keep you from your duties." They gave me a pitying smile as the quickly entered and began the task of making the dungeon "spotless".
I paused a moment as I watched them get to work. They pulled out rags mops, and many other things to help them. My shoulders sagged and I turned away, walking up the stairs.
Mindlessly, I made it my door ignoring everyone on the way.
"Apologies, sir" Another young servant accidentally bumped into me, dropping the pile of clothes in there hands. I bent down to help them with the items.
"It was a mere accident. You need not apologize."
"Yes, I understand. But I do still regret bumping into you I am so very sorry-" they looked up at me and I saw their eyes go wide. They slid back a bit causing their curly raven hair to fly from his face. His dark brown eyes stared in shock, "your highness! I am so sorry. Please forgive me. It won't happen again I-"
"Really, it's alright. Dont apologize. Here," I stood up, holding the pile of clothes. Slowly, they stood as well and held there hands out. Carefully, I placed the pile in his hands.
"Thank you, your highness"
"Of course." They walked away quickly. So many new servants today. How odd.
I turn to face my door and sigh. My hand reaches out for the knob and turns it pushing it open.
I walk in and instantly walk to my bed, falling face first onto the sheets.
"Well hello to you to." Remys voice calls out. I groan but still dont move, "ok. Whats got you all bent out of shape. Another cutie reject you?" I lift my head and look at him glaring slightly before slamming my face back down and muttering a come back, "sorry what was that?"
I turn slightly so my voice is clearer.
"Everything is pain. Life is pain" he chuckles, along with another voice.
Two?
This time I pull myself up to sit on the bed and see next to Remy another unfamiliar servant.
"Ok Remy. Am I crazy, or has there been a lot of new faces in the castle lately." He shakes his head, holding back a smile.
"First," Remy holds a finger up and points it at me, "You already are crazy... also stupid" I roll my eyes. Remy walks over and smacks my head in return, "Secondly. Yes the castle has brought in more servants since many of the old servants were moved up to be part of the guard." I nod in understanding.
"I guess that makes sense... somehow." My head falls back against my scarlet pillows, "can I just... not? Today? Can I just lay here?" The unknown servant, whom has now begun cleaning the tall bookshelves, let out a quiet snicker. I look over at Remy.
"What?" He questions.
"Who is that servant?" I point to the young boy dusting the shelves. Remy shrugs.
"Just another new guy. I have been told to watch over him. Apparently he is quite clumsy," as soon as those words left Remy's mouth, the boy in question tripped over a stack of books and fell onto the floor. Both Remy and I went over to help him.
"Are you alright?" He looks up at me and then at the hand I held out for him.
"I am quite alright," he speaks, pulling himself off the ground, "my apologies, sir." I study him slightly.
His hair was a mess of dirty blonde and his eyes a muted blue.
"Are you sure you are alright? You took quite the fall."
"I appreciate your concern, but I will be fine pr- your highness," the boy seems to tense but I shrug it off.
"What is your name?" He pauses as though he has forgotten before finally answering.
"Malick. My name is Malick," I give Malick a sincere smile.
"Well it is a pleasure to meet you Malick," the boy nods in acknowledgment.
"I best finish my chores, sir,"
"Oh yes of course." He turns back to the bookshelves and continues to clean. I walk away and towards Remy, who now leans on a nearby wall, smirking at the whole encounter.
"What?"
Remy shakes his head and smirks.
"Nothing. Nothing at all... sir,"
