(Roman's POV)
He left me. That violet eyed boy left me here in this cellar. And after finding out who I was... OH MY GOD HE CALLED ME A BITCH. He called me, the prince of the high sun kingdom, a bitch!
I feel I should be angry or annoyed, but honestly I'm more intrigued than anything. My body slides down the wall of the cellar as I place my head in my hands.
"Dont try to" he said in such a cold voice.
Gosh he says not to find him and that makes me only want to even more. Even as I try to forget, that dark hair and condescending smirk burn in the back of my mind. I rub my hands across my face.
"Stop being like this. Just forget it and move on," I encourage myself, standing up with a quiet groan. Carefully I look out and into the alleyway. There is no one around. I pull myself out of the cramped space and up onto the cold stone ground of the hidden alley. People walk by the entrance taking no notice to the large mound sitting huddled on the ground. If only they knew who the mound was. Slowly, I pick myself up and make my way to the entrance of the alleyway, of course making sure that the cellar doors are closed before hand.
Without a second hesitation, my body pushes itself into the crowd, following the direction of the sea of people. The outer city is full of people. Many more people than what I was told and shown. I guess you cannot trust something until you see it for yourself.
"Care to by some fresh fruits?"
"Only four pieces for a dozen flower pickin's!"
"Fresh bread! Baked just this morning!"
Local merchants line the narrow streets attempting to sell to anyone who dare looks their way. In an attempt to be ignored and unseen, I continue to keep my head down, my brown ragged hood pulled way over my head shielding my face.
"Hey you!" someone shouts. Still, I focus on following the crowd to wherever they go, "You!" there is a hand on my cloak sleeves pulling, "care to look at some jewelry little lady?" Little lady? What in the hell? I stand up straight and turn towards the merchant, "oh... uh.. my mistake. Not a lady. Care to look at jewelry for a lady friend? I have pieces for sisters, mothers, lovers..." the man is persistent and refuses to give up. He pulls me out of the crowd and to his small cart tucked against the wall. Quickly, the merchant pulls out a few necklaces and bracelets. He then turns around and pushes them at me.
"I have pieces made by some of the finest of craftsmen. Pieces from all over the kingdom and even farther than the kingdom," He holds one close to my face, "admire the fine craftsmanship. See how it glitters in the sun? A true sun kingdom piece." The necklace is put back down and is replaced by a very dramatic bracelet.
"Sir, I do not wish to buy any jewelry. I best be on my way," I try to go around the man but he blocks my path holding up the bracelet.
"But you have not seen one of my finest pieces! Look! It has bits of the rare gem Rubia from the Sky folk. look!" I push the bracelet away and continue to try and push myself through, "Wait good man! I have more to show you! Wait!"
As I am attempting to get through something in his cart does catch my eye making the merchant smile. I look closer at it, squinting my eyes slightly. It is a small, black pendant on a leather cord. But there was something about it. Something, eerie and magical.
"What is that?" I point out the pendant. The merchant turns and look at the necklace I point to.
"Oh that? Just a little trinket. Not as valuable as other pieces."
"But I would like to see it,"
"Really si-"
"Now." The man puts his hands up in defeat.
"Of course, sir." He turns and carefully picks up the pendant, holding it out for me to see. There is black stone in the center that looks like an entrance to a void. When it hits the sun a certain way one can see small specks of blue's and purple's hidden inside. It was wrapped and held in place by a wire, twisted and weaved into an intricate pattern. It looked almost like, "from the Moon kingdom," exactly what I thought, "It was made by a few shadow folk before the massacre of the high kings. I bought it off of an old beggar starving and in need of food. He said it belonged to someone of great importance in the Moon kingdom but I don't see it. It's too simple. Something a peasant would wear. I felt bad of course and bought it off him so he could at least get a decent meal." He sighs and puts the trinket back on his cart.
"How much?" I ask. The merchant looks at me questioningly.
"I'm sorry?"
"I said how much. For the pendant." I nod in its' direction. He shrugs.
"Gosh uh. I guess I'll take forty pieces for it? Less if you ne-"
"Done." I pull out a small pouch and hand him the money and take the pendant before kindly nodding to him and making my way back into the crowd. I tuck the pouch and pendant into my pocket with a small smile. There is a story with that pendant. I know it. Now to figure it out. Gosh do I love a mystery....
"I FOUND HIM! THERE IN THE CROWD!"
