THE NEXT MORNING I can't help but look out my window and across to Dereks. His drapes are pulled back already, the rising light spilling in.

My phone pings. I walk over to my bedside table and pick it up.

Toby: picking you up in five

Me: I'm not even dressed yet!

Toby: well hop to it

Toby: if you're not out in five I'm leaving

I throw my phone on my bed and scurry over to my closet. I know for sure that he's not joking. One day, just as I was opening the front door, he drove away.
The bus ride to school wasn't very pleasant, I'm scarred for life, not to mention the fact that somebody spit-balled me.

Rummaging through everything I own, I grab out athletic shorts -even though I'm nothing close to athletic- a T-shirt, a navy hoodie, and rush to get into them.

By the time I got outside, Toby was pulling up. When his car reaches a stop I hop in and he greets me with a toothy grin. "Mornin' sunshine."

"Mornin'" I yawn.

"So Madame, where to?" Toby puts the car in drive.

"To the Moon please."

He looks at the dashboard before glancing across at me. "I don't have enough fuel for that."

I laugh at how serious he sounded. "I don't want to go to school, but I guess I'll go wherever you're going."

Toby's mischievous grin grows bigger. "The Strip Club it is."

My mouth drops open and I twist in my seat to stare at him. "We're going to the what now?"

We stop at a red light and he lets out a small chuckle. "I'm kidding River." He pauses. "Kind of."

I shake my head, my lips tipped up at the corners in a smile. "You are such a boy."

"I couldn't imagine myself any other way."

I study him. His short blonde hair brushing against his tanned masculine face. Honestly, he does suit being a boy.

"Imagine if you were a girl though," I began. "What would your name be? Tabitha?"

His face scrunches up. "Tabitha? That's what you come up with?"

I shrug my shoulders, grinning slightly.
