A LIGHT GUST of wind soared into my room once I pushed the window open.

I stuck my head out the window and looked up. The vast sky was a canvas of blue, all reasonably bright in the summer evening sun.

It took me ten seconds to climb up and I felt the rush of adrenaline in each second. My heart beat faster, eager for more.

It hadn't been long since I was last up here but it certainly felt like a million years.

"I was wondering what time you'd come."

His voice was calm, a hint of a smile on his full lips.

Then his eyes softened, a question raised within them. "Have you been crying?"

The back of my hand flew up to wipe at my tear-stained cheeks. I wasn't crying anymore but I hadn't realised I still look gross. "What, no," I lied. He studied me as if he were about to say something else but instead thought twice about it.

Fixing my hair behind my ears I walked over to him. "How long have you been up here?"

Derek shrugged. "A while. I see why you like it so much."

I stood there watching him. His skin was glowing in the evening rays. They made him look tanner than he was, he was definitely model worthy.

Derek felt me watching him and he lifted his head. "Are you going to sit or are you scheming how to push me off the roof?"

His voice was serious, though I knew he was playing. "Oh, I've already planned it."

A grin pulled at his lips.

"Can you move over?" I asked in a harder tone than I meant.

He shuffled to the right so that there was more space for me on the ledge.

"I thought you weren't going to come."

"Whether your here or not, I'll always come." After I said it I realised how cliche and weird that had sounded and I grimaced a little. "I mean that it's a habit."

He nodded.

"You're not going to steal my spot are you?" I narrowed my eyes at him.

"What if I did?"

I frowned and found myself getting angry. "Then you'd better buy a coffin, cause I will definitely go through with the plan of pushing you off the roof."
