song: "No Matter What" - Callum Scott
ALL THREE ICE cubes clunk together as I take a long sip of my orange juice. It's 5 O'clock in the afternoon and Toby, Tiana and I are sitting in a blue and white booth at Coleman's, sharing hallway gossip.
"Faith Peterson's pregnant," Toby announced. He slurped up the last of his smoothie and pushed the glass away to eat his bagel.
"She is not!" Tiana and I let our jaws drop at the news.
He gave a small smirk at the fact he knew about the gossip on Faith before Tiana did. "Mhmm."
"Holy sh-"
Tiana cuts me off. "You are so lying," her eyes narrowed at him.
Faith Peterson isn't someone the gossip tree revolves around. She's the type that keeps to herself, ace her exams, and I don't think I've ever seen her with a boy at school.
Toby takes a bite out of his bagel. "I'm not lying," he replied.
"Who's the father?" I pressed. I could tell Tiana was thinking the same thing.
"Jacob Sullen."
My eyes almost pop out of their sockets and I swear I heard Tiana's jaw hit the ground. "Your goalie?!!" we exclaim.
"That's who he's been dating?"
Toby shrugs. "Well, I only found out when he came running to me and Rex all distressed on what to do. He's not really the fatherly type."
"I mean, who is at this age?" I gulp down the rest of my juice and stand up. "I'm gonna get going. Dad, mum and I have a couple of movies taped we want to watch."
They shuffle out of the booth as well. "Guess we should head out too, I've got a test to study for," Tiana sighs.

Toby's car pulls into my driveway and from the backseat, Tiana bends over the console to wrap her arms around me. "Bye girl."
Toby gags and we both look over at him. "What?"
"Girl? Why do woman say that?" His nose scrunches up. "I'm surrounded by too much oestrogen. I reckon it's time I got male best friends," he jokes.
We roll our eyes at him. "Bye Toby," I say then just to annoying him even more I lean over to plant a big wet kiss on his cheek.
"Ohmygod yuck." He swipes at his face. "Why was that so wet?!"
I leave the car laughing. "I thought you were eager for my kisses." Tiana's giggles bounce of the car walls and I make my way towards the house.
Fletcher greets me with a wagging tail and I bend over for a pat.
"Mum?" I call out, she's usually in the kitchen during this hour but I don't see her chopping up greens.
