"HOW DID THE parade go yesterday?" Tiana and I merged into the sea of students. Both of us eager for lunch after finishing an unfamiliar exam paper in English.
Which, for one: it didn't go very well because I all my mind could replay was Toby's slip up infront of Derek. And two: I forgot what a hyperbole was.
Tiana nudged her shoulder against mine, whilst waiting for me too describe every detail down to the dot. It was one of her favourite events our town has but this year she had missed it because she was back out seeing her grandparents again.
I wish she could've been there, I needed some girl power. Even the waterfront fire works had felt ruined afterwards.
"Horrible," I sighed before pausing. "Actually it was good," I reworded. "That is until Derek showed up."
Tiana narrowed her eyes. "What did Derek do? I'll kick his punk little ass if he-"
A small smile lifted my lips at her attitude. She's always got my back. "Then you'll be kicking the wrong ass."
Plus from Derek's stature I doubt she would've been able to.
"What? Toby?" Her eyes widened.
We split apart to pass a couple making out in the middle of the hall. Gross.
"He got really pissed cause I've started hanging with Derek and then almost spilled the beans on you know what to him," I said when I reached her side again.
She gasped. "He did not."
"Oh he did."
"That dick!" Tiana grabbed my shoulders and stopped me outside the cafeteria.
She ran her eyes across my features, thinking in silence as students made there way around us. "Okay definitely didn't have the right to do that, but I suggest another kiss and make up, because that totally worked last time."
I couldn't help the blush forming on my cheeks as I remembered my first kiss.
"See! Even your face is telling me it worked!"
"Tiana! I'm mad at him, that's all it is."
She smirked, shaking her head . "For that split second I brought it up you weren't."
I groaned. "I'm not kissing him again," I replied firmly. "If he wants me to talk to him again he has to apologise without his lips on mine." With that said I head through the doors to line up for lunch.
"You like him!" Tiana called as she followed behind me into the cafeteria.
"I don't like him!" I called back whilst ignoring her eye.
"Oh yes you do and there's no denying it."
"Who don't you like?"
Tiana and I swiveled around to the voice and saw Derek's 6ft frame peeking down at us over my left shoulder.
