I found Elle leaning on a wall outside of the men's locker room, Facetiming with someone. She saw me and gave a big smile, pushing herself off the wall to show me Lee's and Rachel's face on the screen, in my parents living room.
"Are you surprised?!" Rachel squealed through the phone.
I laughed. "Shocked," I admitted holding the phone my two hands, my arms on either side of Elle's head as she leaned back on me. I gave her head a quick kiss, my height allowing us both to be on the screen.
Lee smirked. "Dude I'm surprised she pulled it off. You won't believe how much I had to listen to her go back and forth about," his voice changed, "Should I just tell him? No I shouldn't, yes I should, Ugh!"
Elle rolled her eyes. "I wasn't that bad," she looked up at me.
I laughed. "I can't believe I had no idea."
"Well you are pretty dense," Lee gestured. Elle giggled.
"Alright we'll let you guys go," Rachel winked at Elle. "Have a great time!"
"Yeah use protection," Lee added laughing when Elle took the phone scolding him, her ending the call abruptly.
She slid the phone into her back pocket and turned, my arms still resting on her shoulders. I leaned down to give her a kiss.
"God I missed you," I mumbled against her lips. My hands grabbed her waist to pull her closer and she allowed us to just enjoy the kiss for a while before pulling away breathless.
"I'm sorry for all the secrets."
I shook my head with a huge grin, "So worth it."
Jake walked out, finding us there with a couple other team members they threw some whistles our way as Jake came to join us.
"Chloe's waiting for us for dinner. She wants to hear the lot of it," he said the last words in a perfect English accent.
I groaned, "Dinner? I thought Elle and I could just catch up on our own."
His smirk told me he knew what I was implying. Elle gave me an elbow in the ribs making Jake and I chuckle.
"Don't worry you have time for that," Jake's eyes looked to Elle smiling.
I looked down to Elle, "Wait, how long are you here?"
Elle bit her lip, her eyes twinkling, "Till Sunday."
A week. A whole week? This was even better than I could've ever dreamed. "Woooooooo!!!!" my voice echoed through the passageway out of the stadium.
"Noah!" Elle scolded me with a hand on my arm embarrassed.
I skipped ahead of her, clicking my heels in the air, doing a little dance that I didn't really know I had in me. Elle and Jake watched me in disbelief, laughing.
I jogged back to them and took the gym bag from Elle's shoulders and threw it on my own, joining my bag so I could my put his arm around her. Her hand found my back pocket.
"Where's all your stuff?" I asked looking down at her realizing that duffel was not enough for her stay here.
"Jake's room," she replied casually.
I looked to Jake accusingly. "Was Elle the girl you brought home last night?" I had finally put two and two together.
"Yes but," Jake started, my look was definitely making him uncomfortable judging by his fidgeting.
Elle snorted. "Really Noah, we put two months into surprising you and you still care that I shared a room with your best friend?"
She had a fair point there. Man, this toxic masculinity that Chloe always warned me about was really tough to shake. It had been a long time ago that she pointed out to me that my feelings that I had about possessiveness were directly linked to a false need to maintain control of things when I couldn't control my own feelings. I hated when she was right. "You're right I'm sorry," making Elle and Jake laugh at my quick forfeit.
