"What do you mean?" Tony asked with worry. He had a feeling, a bad feeling, a feeling in his gut that he had just hoped was wrong. That feeling explaining the bloodstain on Peters hoodie, explaining why he never wore short sleeves. The signs were so clear and yet Tony refused to see them, he pushed the feeling as far back as possible and hoped that it wasn't true. Buckys statement had woken that feeling once again, but this time it was so strong that Tony couldn't ignore it. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN WITH THAT!?" he shouted when the winter soldier didn't give him an answer, which woke everybody else up. Bruce put a hand on the billionaire's shoulder, pushing him down onto the couch again and trying to calm him down. "Could you just tell us?" Sam asked calmly. "tell us what?" A high pitched voice asked. Everybody turned their head toward the voice to see a groggy Peter rubbing his eyes.
"Oh, good your awake" Stark said coldly. The teen looked up at his mentor with a little smile, trying to figure out the reason for the sudden coldness in his voice. "Then maybe you could tell us what the fuck Bucky means when he says that you have other coping mechanisms" Tony continued in the same tone. Peters's heart dropped when he heard Tony's question and his smile disappeared as he turned his attention towards the guy knowing his darkest secret. "Mr w-white wolf sir, you p-promised," He said, trying desperately not to cry. "I know bud, but they need to know". "Need to know what?" Tony asked. "Shut up Stark" Clint intervened, watching the whole scene from a vent. "Tell them," Bucky encouraged, but Peter just shook his head. The panic was overwhelming for Peter, he tried so hard not to cry. This couldn't be happening, they couldn't know, they just couldn't.
Natasha, who had been analyzing the whole situation and had figured out what the thing was about got up from her armchair and sat beside Peter, to calm him down. "Its alright маленький паук" she whispered, stroking his curls. "You can tell us, we won't be mad" she continued softly. Peters breath hitched and he started crying uncontrollably. "Y-yes you will, you'll be mad a-and Mr Stark will k-kick me out" He sobbed into Nat's shoulder. Tony sighed, he was very concerned with what the boy had just said. He squatted in front of Peter so that they were on the same eye level. "Pete, look at me" Peter looked up from Natasha's chest, wiping away his tears. "Have you killed someone that hadn't anything to do with the job?" Tony asked seriously. "WHAT! no Mr stark, of course, I haven't killed someone" Peter said surprised. "Have you been doing drugs then?" "No Tony, I would never do that". Peter had gotten a little bit offended by his mentor's weird questions. Tony stood up and patted his mentee on the back. "Well then underoos, then there's nothing you can do that would make me kick you out".
Peter smiled sadly, feeling relieved. He's lying. If he actually knew he would kick you out. He doesn't care about you. God your so pathetic, crying in front of the avengers. Your, not a hero, you never will be. His thoughts quickly ruined the brief moment of happiness. The room fell silent, everybody was waiting for Peter, who had stopped crying to say something, and Peter was savouring the few moments he had left with the team before they knew his secret. His horrible secret. "Queens, would you like to tell us now?" Steve broke the silence and got accompanied by supportive murmurs. Peter looked up, looking around the room. He didn't even realize that he was holding his breath until he let a breath out. His hands were shaking and he was quickly blinking away stubborn tears. "No" he whispered. No, they couldn't know, no he couldn't tell, no he didn't want to tell. "Alright Petey, I'm done with this bs" Tony said, standing up from the couch. Everybody was staring at the elder man, he didn't seem mad, but he was definitely not happy. "Either you tell us and tell us now, or I will force the truth out of Manchurian Candidate" he continued, pointing at Bucky. Despite the threat, the teen didn't say a word. Bucky sighed. "Peter, just tell them, they already have their suspicions. Or show them, just do it" he said. Everybody fell quiet once again when they realized the meaning of Buckys words.
"Peter, show me your left arm" Sam commanded. Peters's heart was racing, he couldn't think clearly. He rolled up his right sweatshirt sleeve and showed the team a perfectly unharmed arm. "You're other left," Steve said. Peter froze, it got harder to breathe and his brain didn't seem to be working normally. This was it, after this, he wouldn't be an avenger anymore. He was paralyzed, couldn't move, couldn't think. He had been spacing for such a long time that Clint had come down from the vents and was standing right behind him. "For god's sake, just do it dammit," Clint said as he grabbed the boys left arm and yanked up his sleeve. The heroes gasped as they saw Peters arm, red deep cuts in neat rows littered all over it. Somebody gasped an "oh peter" and an "oh my god", but mostly everybody was silent. They had known, they had their suspicions, but nothing could have prepared the heroes for this sight, the sight of a boy that each one of them loved who was hurting so much.
Peter was sobbing quietly and everybody stared at him, shocked. Clint had frozen and was still holding Peter's arm, Wanda was also crying and Thor had a hard time keeping his tears. Bruce was breathing slowly to fight the green in his skin that was becoming more dominant. The rest of the team was just looking at him, with different expressions that made Peter want to jump out of a window, But worst of them all was Tony. Tony sat on the corner of the couch, as far away from Peter as possible. He was just staring emotionlessly on the boy's arm, but he seemed hurt? "Excuse me" Bruce excused himself from the group, as his green arm didn't seem to stop growing. "Yea, me too," Peter said bluntly, he yanked his arm free and jumped over the couch, running to his room. "Peter!" Bucky screamed after him, but nobody could do anything to stop him. Then everybody turned towards Tony. The billionaire simply cleared his throat, got up from his seat and said "Ill be in my lab"
