Tony opened the door to Peters bedroom. Steve was sitting on a chair and Peter asleep on the bed. Tony had refused to let Peter be alone, but Steve had insisted to sit with the teen so that Tony could get some time to gather his thoughts. Steve met Tony's eyes from across the room.
"He's been sleeping for the past two hours", Steve informed before he got out.Tony sighed as he walked around the room, looking down at his mentee. God, why would he ever do something like that? Tony could keep the kid safe from every danger, every villain or threat to humanity, every danger but Peter himself. And that broke his heart into a million pieces, that he had been so busy making sure that nobody could hurt his kid that he missed what was happening right front of him.
Peter turned in his bed and grunted a little bit. Tony sat down beside him.
"Morning kiddo," He said and shook his shoulder gently. Peter sat up slowly and rubbed his eyes, the feeling of dread washing over him. They were going to talk. He guessed that Tony could see the emotion written on his face, as the older man pulled the teen into a big hug."I'm gonna start", Tony said gently, inhaling a deep breath.
"Peter, your like the kid I never got, I love you more than anything in this world, and I would sacrifice my life for you. All I want in my life is for you to be happy, and it hurts me so much that I can't give you that," He started. Peter looked up at him, tears slowly falling down his face.
"I don't mean to hurt you, I really don't, but I think that I would hurt people less if im not here, then I wouldn't disappoint as much", He explained."You are not a disappointment, you being present isn't hurting anyone" Tony started.
"We all love you, me, the rest of the team, your aunt May, you mean everything to us" He continued. Peter shook his head, and Tony realized that Peter suddenly had started crying.
"Not aunt May", he sniffed. "She doesn't care, she hates me," he said, looking down at his lap.
"What makes you think that Pete?" Tony asked as he wrapped his arms around the boy.
"Cuz she said so"."She said so?" Tony frowned, he couldn't think of even one reason why May would say such a thing. Peter cried even harder.
"Why did she say that?" He asked carefully. Peter shook his head.
"If I tell, you won't ever talk to me again," The boy said. Tony got really worried, why did Peter think that he would hate him? What had happened?"When did she say that?" Tony changed his approach.
"Last night".
"Is that why you, umm, wrote that uhh", Tony stumbled over his own words. Usually, he could say the things that others couldn't, he wasn't afraid of how people would react, he simply just didn't care. But this, this was another thing, because saying it would just make it so real. Suicide note. Too real, and Tony had to be strong, he had to be put together for his kid. Peter nodded his answer. He knew that if he tried to talk his voice would break. His own aunt had disowned him, she had reacted the one way that Peter had feared she would, his only living relative despised him."FRIDAY, call May Parker," Tony said. FRIDAY didn't answer, but soon familiar signals filled the room. One signal, two signals, Peters's heart was racing. Three signals, maybe she wouldn't answer? Four sign-
"Hello?" Mays's voice echoed through the speakers.
"May, hello, it's Tony". Peter heard how his aunt sighed.
"Peter really needs to see you right now, something has happened and i-"
"I don't care about that little shit, just leave him on the street or something and let him die" May interrupted. Tony gasped, not being able to understand what May had just said. he looked over at Peter who was desperately trying to cry quietly.
"But he really needs you right now, he's your nephew" Tony tried.
"No, he is disgusting and I wish he was never born, I never want to see him again". Peter couldn't hold his tears in and started bawling hysterically. Tony was almost boiling with rage.
"YOUR NEPHEW JUST TRIED TO COMMIT SUICIDE!" He shouted.
"I wish he would have succeeded," May said and hanged up.Tony stood in the middle of the room, speechless. Had that just happened? Then he turned his attention towards his child, who could barely breathe due to how hard he was crying.
"Your gonna be fine" Tony whispered and hugged him tightly. The guilt was eating Tony alive, why did he have to call her in front of Peter? Fortunately, the hug had seemed to help, because Peter had stopped crying.
"Kiddo, I would never treat you the way May does, there is nothing you can do that would make me hate you. So could you please tell me what that's about?"Peter sat up straight on his bed. It's now or never, he thought. Tony would find out eventually, so why not now? He took a deep breath.
"You remember the day I moved in here?" Tony nodded.
"And you showed me this room and told me that the bed was good for both male and female company, cuz you didn't know what I was into too." A short pause.
"Well... I kinda know now and uhh, it's not really what most people think Is okay," Peter muttered. Tony looked up at him.
"so you're saying that..."
"Im gay" Peter confirmed. There he had said it, he had finally said it. He expected Tony to walk away, start laughing or even hit him. But he didn't. Instead he pulled the teen into a warm hug.
"Thank you for telling me".
