Confrontation

Peter layed in his bed, sleeping for once peacefully. The child had his knees up against his chest and was hugging one of the massive pillows Tony had gotten him. He moved around a little now and then, adjusting his head or silently whimpering. Far away it might seem as if Peter was having yet another nightmare, but up close you could tell that that was not the case. It was more of deep, eventful sleep. It was week two at the tower, and Peter had started to settle in. He felt more comfortable with the heroes now and had even started to have normal conversations. Bucky and Sam had come back from a mission and was back at the tower. May and Happy had been back from their trip a week ago. It had taken lots of nagging and begging, but Peter had finally gotten the avengers not to tell May about his panic attack. After that incident, Peter had gotten better at hiding his troubles, right before he felt one coming, he would deactivate FRIDAY in his room, or put her on mute in the whole house. Nobody had seemed to notice.

As the sun rose Peter slowly woke up. Even with big blackout curtains was Peter to sensitive to ever sleep when the sun was up. "FRIDAY, what's the time?" "The time is 5:38 am," The AI said. Peter groaned as he rubbed his eyes. He had only slept around two hours tonight.  As Peter slowly made his way towards the shower he felt extremely dizzy. He hadn't eaten anything in six days and it really had affected him. You can go a little longer, Peter thought to himself as he leaned against the bathroom wall to make sure that he wasn't going to fall. The boy was too tired to stand up, so instead, he sat down in the big shower, letting the warm water hit his head and flow down his body. Peters's head was scarily empty, and all he could feel was hunger. Just one more day he thought. Tomorrow you get to eat.

It took a while before the kid realized how long he had been sitting in the shower. He finally got up, dried himself and put on some clothes. As he got ready he checked the time. The time was 7:30. Fuck. By now almost everybody in the tower had woken up, except maybe May, or Clint. Peter usually woke up around 6 am, and then went to the kitchen, so that he could say that he already ate. It worked, nobody questioned him. Bruce would occasionally raise an eyebrow or give him a sceptical look, but nobody had done anything else. The problem was that Tony was most certainly up, along with almost everybody else. His mentor was always on him about food, nutrition and stuff like that. If Tony was up, Peter wouldn't get away without eating, and that couldn't happen, not now.  The spiderling knew that he had to make an appearance, and if he was lucky enough, Tony was in his lab or something. Slowly he tiptoed through the long corridor that leads to the kitchen, as he once again took support from the wall to stand upright. The dizziness was way worse than it had been earlier, and black dots started to appear in front of his eyes. He finally stumbled to the kitchen, barley seeing anything.  The cap was there, Tony and a few other people that were hard to see. "Good morning kiddo," Tony said friendly. "Hi," Peter said before he blacked out.

Peter woke up in his bed, rubbing his eyes, he looked around the room. It was still light outside, the sun stood a little low on the sky, the time was maybe around 4 or 5 pm. He was confused to why he laid in his bed with his clothes on in the afternoon. Then it dawned upon him. He had fainted, in front of everybody. Fuck. Just as he was about to sit up Peter froze. He could hear two men talking right outside his door. Quietly he laid down in his bed again and listened to the conversation. "I don't Tony, but something is up" It sounded like Bruce. "Nobody faints like that just because, something must have happened" He continued. "I don't know what happened, he just came out of nowhere and passed out," Tony said. "Are you sure he's eating? I mean look at the kid, his clothes practically hang of him" "FRIDAY hasn't said anything, but now that I think about it, I haven't seen him eat in like two weeks" Peter panicked when he heard the words that His mentor was uttering. He had to get out of there, quickly before Tony or Bruce decided to check in on him. As fast as possible he slipped his spiderman mask over his head and grabbed his sling shooters. He pushed the window open, not realizing how much sound it made. As he sat on the edge of his window, just about to jump and get out of there his bedroom door swung open. Peter looked at the door to see Bruce and Tony standing there, staring at him. "Where are you going?" Bruce asked. Peter swallowed, trying to speak, but he couldn't, the words just didn't come out. "Um, i-i, um" He mumbled. "Kiddo, why don't come and sit here, with us," Tony said. It was formulated as a question but everybody in the room knew that it was an order. Slowly the kid made his way from the window to his bed, where Tony was sitting. Bruce left the room so that the mentor and his mentee were alone. The billionaire sigh and put his arm around the young boy. "Pete, what happened?" he asked quietly. "Um, i-i don't really know" Peter lied, nervously fidgeting with the hem of his hoodie. "When was the last time you ate?" Tony suddenly said. The blood in Peter's veins froze to ice, he sat perfectly still and stopped breathing. The boy tried to come up with something, but he couldn't think clearly. His mentor knew that something was up since the boy hadn't moved for the last 30 seconds. Stark looked at the boy with worry. Why wouldn't he tell when he last ate? what was wrong? "Hey FRIDAY, when was the last time Peter ate?" Peter looked up when he heard the question, starting to panic. "Mr Stark, FRIDAY is probably wrong, i-i um, Sh-she is wro-" The boy got interrupted by the AI. "According to my database, the last time Mr Parker ate was six days ago," FRIDAY said. Tony looked up in utter shock, just staring at the boy in front of him. "SIX DAYS?" he yelled. "YOU HAVENT EATEN ANYTHING FOR SIX DAYS? HOW ARE YOU STILL ALIVE? YOU CANT DO THIS PETER, YOU CANT" The boy looked up at Tony with watery eyes. Then he burst out in tears.
