Peter layed on the floor in his room. He had been doing situps the last two hours, nonstop and he started to get a little bit dizzy. The child couldn't stand the thought of having a movie night with the avengers. Not that he had anything against the heroes, he and Natasha had immediately bonded, Steve and Thor were both hilarious, and Clint was awesome. Of course, he liked Tony the most, but they already knew each other. The only person Peter didn't have an opinion on was Bruce. The doctor had been quiet the whole day, barely introduced himself. It was as if he was observing Peter because every time Peter had looked at him, the doctor always seemed to have been staring at the young teen. It didn't really bother Peter that Bruce had been staring, more that he now had to be more careful to hide his arms and lack of eating so that Banner wouldn't find out. Peter knew how smart the doc was, and if he were observing him, it wouldn't be long before his secrets spilt.
Peter shrugged and continued working out, burning all the calories that he possibly could have eaten during lunch. A soft knock on the door interrupted the teen's workout. "Hey Pete, its May, can I come in?" May asked. Peter jumped up off the floor, drying the sweat of his forehead. "Yea, you can come in". May entered the room, looking at her sweaty nephew. "What were you doing?" she asked suspiciously. "Just some pre patrol warmup," Peter said, surprising himself with his fast response. If his aunt knew that he was lying, she didn't show it. "Anyways, Peter. I was wondering if you would be okay with me not being here this weekend?" May said as she slowly played with her hair. "Um, yea, i-i guess so, why are you going away?" His aunt blushed and looked down on the floor. "Happy wanted to take me away," she said, embarrassed. Peter was shocked, but yet happy for May. He nodded. "So go, ill be fine". May looked at him, and a smile lit her face up. "Thanks," she said before giving him a big hug and running to her room to pack. Peter sighed, threw himself on his bed, closing his eyes and letting his thoughts wander freely, without even noticing that he drifted off to a sleep full of nightmares.
"Dammit, not again!" Cap said after losing yet another game of yatzy. "Language!" everybody in the common room said together, laughing at Steve. Natasha, Steve and Clint were playing board games, whilst Bruce and Tony yapped about an equation that didn't make sense. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. Suddenly FRIDAY alerted Tony. "Mr Stark, it seems as if Mr Parkers heart rate is up on 150 bpm, which is much higher than his normal heart rate". "Okay, and was does that mean?" Tony asked. He really cared about the kid, but right now he didn't understand why that information was so important, his mentee was probably just working out or doing other "teenage stuff". "This indicates that Mr Parker is experiencing a severe panic attack" The AI answered. Tony froze, looking up at his friends, who also had frozen. Everybody was shocked not knowing what to do. After about ten seconds of absolute silence, Tony finally reacted, jumping up from his seat and starting to run against Peters room. He didn't want the kid to be in there all by himself, crying, feeling as if he was going to fall apart because Tony knew how it felt and it was just horrible. The rest of the avengers were half a feet behind him. When he, at last, reached the kid's door Tony didn't even hesitate to throw the door open, and in front of him, he saw something that broke his heart.
Peter sat on his bed, with tears running down his red face, hyperventilating whilst hugging his legs tightly, rocking back and forth. Peters's heart was racing, the panic was overwhelming, and the harder he tried to not think about it, the clearer the memory got. Stuck, trying to move, no oxygen, couldn't breathe. As those thoughts ran through Peters's head, he noticed that it actually got harder to breathe. The air felt like a thick fog that no matter what couldn't go down his lungs. Peter couldn't see anything, only panic and anxiety. Even though he was in his own room, it didn't feel like it. Even though he was wide awake, he couldn't tell. He was back, under the big blocks of stone, the dust slowly suffocating him.
Quickly the billionaire ran over to the little boy, hugging him tightly. "Shhhh, your okay, you're okay Peter" Tony comforted. He didn't really know what to do, how to calm the kid down. Sure Tony had experienced anxiety and panic attacks before, but this, this was so much worse. "Make it stop!" Peter shouted, clinging onto his mentor. "I can't brea- i-i can't breath" he continued. Not knowing what to do, Tony wrapped Peter in his arms, trying to comfort the boy.
Slowly Peter started breathing normally again and the tears stopped. As the boy looked up in the room, All of the avengers stood in there, just watching him with worry. He felt uneasy, and kind of embarrassed as he sat there on the edge of his bed, red eyes and wet cheeks with all the avengers staring at him. "um, i-im um" was all Peter could say, but the others got the hint and they left. Everybody except Tony, who sat there with Peter, still holding the boy tightly. They just sat like that, quietly. Both of them had so much that they wanted to tell the other, so much they wanted to ask.
Finally, it was Tony who broke the silence. "Hey kid" he started in a soft voice, careful not to scare the poor boy. "I was just wondering, has this happened before?" "Sir, th-this um, this doesn't happen often, the first time um..." Peter mumbled, trying to make a believable lie. Tony didn't say anything, even though he knew that Peter was lying. "Okay, but just so you know, if I ask Karen, she will tell me," the billionaire said, trying to hint that he knew something. Peter froze, stopped breathing for a minute. Fuck, no no no, fuck no. He hadn't worked his ass off for his suit to betray him. "mhmm" Peter hummed, knowing that after dinner he would have to hack the suit. Just as Tony was about to say something the door swung wide open and Thor walked in. "Man of iron, man of Spiders, dinner is ready"
