Picks up from Darren's POV
"What do the rest of us do?" I asked. Darren immediately took control. I didn't mind, the rest didn't seem to either.
"We need to hone in on our abilities. We have to perfect them if we want to defeat the Neverseen. Even though some of us have just manifested." He looked at Maxine and Ellie. "Alvia, your ability will be important when we have to get to the battle and out, you need to try teleporting more than one person. Can you do that and ask Ro?"
"Okay," Alvia accepted. "We haven't gotten to multiple people yet, but if I practice more maybe my mom will teach me."
"Great. Maxine, you have to practice your ability more, since you are a Hydrokinetic - which is rare -, and a whole two levels below us."
"Thanks for reminding me."
"Ellie, you're a level one, too. Same thing as Maxine. Except you have two pretty powerful abilities to manage." Darren said.
Ellie nodded.
"Scarlett and Jorden, ask your mom for more fighting skills." He continued.
"I heard my mom practices with Lady Marrella, that might mean they can do something together." Arian chimed in. "Maybe Scarlett and Maxine guys could figure out what they can do together and try it on your own?"
They nodded in agreement.
"Ivy, you could help us break into the Neverseen's mind to get more information, so I would try to work with Mr. Forkle or Sir Tiergan to learn that and maybe some other things. Sound good?"
Arian snickered. "Of course she will! Breaking in is the trending way to enter a room. Isn't it, Ivy?" Ivy ignored him.
"First, I thought maybe we could make Team Valiant our team name since it's not used anymore. I could put the swirls on our outfits, that way we'll know if one is the enemy or on our side," Ivy said.
"Actually, since our parents would recognize the swirl symbol, I thought we could change the symbol to a wolf and call ourselves Pack Valiant," Ellie suggested. "But of course, we don't have to, it's just a suggestion."
"Okay, that sounds good," Darren says.
"Second," Ivy continues. "Won't Mr. Forkle and Tiergan get suspicious if I ask them how to break into someone's mind?" Ivy brought up another good point.
"Well, you can't ask your dad, either," Darren paused to think. "That'll be my job. I'll find a telepath that's willing to help us." Everyone looked kind of overwhelmed by this news, and honestly, I kind of was too. My sister stood up.
"We have to fight." Everyone looked at Scarlett. "Oh, c'mon. You knew someone had to say it. What our parents really need help with is fighting and that's what we're going to do. We need to defeat them. We need skills, controlled abilities, and confidence. We have to destroy them once and for all. " Darren stood up from the chair he was sitting on.
"This is going to be hard to pull off with our age and also while hiding it from our parents, but we can do it. Umm... Pack Valiant?"
"Pack Valiant!" Everyone weakly cheered. It was clear that we had a long way to go.
After Dex's house, still Friday
When I got home, Scarlett and I decided not to ask mom yet. It would be too suspicious if they told us not to help them fight and then we ask about fighting tips. Instead, we decided to ask Woltzer, Mom's bodyguard, about how goblins fight where he lives. He never really says anything, just does his job. Well, he tries to at least. Mom uses her vanishing ability on him sometimes. I heard she did it a lot as a kid when she was still attending Foxfire. Other than that, he doesn't really do much. I don't really know how Woltzer would react to the question, we don't talk to him much either. I guess we'll find out.
Our mom rushes into her room to answer her imparter and we seize the moment to find Woltzer.
"Woltzer!" Woltzer's eyes widened as he turns our way.
"Can I help you two?" He answered in his usual funny voice.
"We just have some questions for you." I take out my notepad. "Where you come from, Gildinham, what weapons do goblins use? Only Goblin Throwing Stars?"
"Well, we do use Goblin Throwing Stars often. I have some now." Woltzer took out a throwing star of his own. It was metal and shiny, and when I touched the tip, it was very sharp. "They are handmade."
"Could I keep some?" Scarlett asks, quickly adding, "To examine, of course." Woltzer grinned.
"Sneaky, just like your mother," Woltzer noticed. "I can't let you keep any unless they are for self-defense. I could teach you how to use them if you would like. Learn to use them properly, and I will let you keep some. What do you think?" Scarlett and I shared the same that was easier than I thought expression.
"Yes!" we shouted in reply.
"You can't tell anyone about this," Woltzer says in a suddenly hushed tone. "Your mother would kill me, and Sandor would give me the longest lecture in history. This has to be a secret."
"Why are you even letting us do this?" I asked.
"Your mom's a vanisher, she gets away from me all the time, so it's good she knows how to defend herself. You two should as well, the Neverseen are so unpredictable, they might find a way to separate you two from me." Woltzer looked like the thought of him being separated from us would be a nightmare. He continued, "We start training tomorrow morning at 6:30 - I'll take you to a place where your mom definitely won't be."
