Jorden's POV II

Friday 6:00

"Almost. Just a little longer. You can do it. Keep going- Agh." I throw the lock into a small pile of a variety of locks. "Scar, we need these warmed."

Scarlett comes over from helping Ivy master Goblin throwing stars and melts the ice off of the locks.

"Haven't broken a lock yet?" she asks Maxine. Maxine shakes her head with exhaustion.

"Maybe you just need a break...?" I suggest. "Come on, there's probably something else we can do for now." We walk around the group, seeing if we could do anything else with our time. Suddenly, Maxine shrieks and jumps away from me. My shoulders scrunch at the unexpected action.

"What?" I ask. Maxine relaxes and lets out a breath. She points at my legs. Or, she would be pointing at my legs, but they aren't there.

"Woah," I say. I rock my (invisible) feet back and balance on my heel. Nope, they're there, just not visible... wait... I'm a Vanisher.

"Yup," Darren says. Did I say that out loud?

"Yup," Darren says again. Did I just have deja vu?

"Nope," Darren says again. I stand up straight.

"Darren," I say and point at him. "you are freaking me out."

"I'm not even doing anything weird," Darren says. "I just have ears." Alvia snickers.

"Anyways," Ellie brings the conversation back to the point. "Can you bring your legs back?"

"Umm..." I'm honestly not sure. I close my eyes and try to make my legs visible again. Alvia snickers again.

"You look constipated," she says. Arian quickly puts a hand over his mouth. He couldn't have made it more obvious.

"Okay, is someone going to help him?" Scarlett says, obviously annoyed. "You know what, we've got this bro. Wiggle your feet, one at a time." I do as she says. Nothing changes.

"Try touching them," Ellie suggests. I touch them, but they don't come back.

"I've got an idea!" Maxine says loudly. She throws her arms in the direction of my legs, but before she can follow through, Scarlett jumps in and produces a small flame to counter Maxine's ability.

"Are you cra-!" Scarlett begins, but gets cut off by Arian.

"What. is. that?" Arian says with wide eyes, staring at the space between Maxine's and Scarlett's hands. A small, cobalt blue crystal is hovering in between. 

"It's a leaping crystal," Darren realizes.

"But where does it leap to?" Ivy asked. Ellie gasps sharply.

"The Forbidden Cites. That's the crystal that I saw on Mom's desk. It goes to the human cities."

"Cool!" Arian says. "Let's go, guys!" He takes out his pathfinder.

"Wait wait wait- we're just gonna go? Ivy asks.

"Our parents aren't here, we have a leaping crystal, there will be no proof we even left. So, yes," Arian states.

"Ugh, fine. You guys make me break too many rules."

"It's okay if you have a little dust on yourself, princess," Alivia says with a mischievous smirk.

"Hold on. Ellie and I still have nexus', we can't come," Maxine points out.

"And I still have invisible legs," I say, which, a few seconds later, sounds like a sarcastic joke. "I'm not kidding..."

"True," Scarlett says. "Maybe we shouldn't go then?"

"Well, what are we going to do, wait three years?" Arian says.

"You could at least wait until my feet show up," I say.

"Or you could just stay here with Ellie and Maxine."

"We don't need a babysitter!" Maxine says.

"But Jorden does," Arian replies, which gets a muffled laugh out from the girls.

"Hey!" I say.

"Okay, Okay," Darren says. "Jorden, Ellie, and Maxine will stay here, and the rest of us will go with the crystal. Jorden, I'm putting you in charge."
