Continued
As soon as we landed back to Mariglow, Scarlett fell to the ground.
"Scarlett! Are you o-" Ivy started.
"I'm fine," she replied. She started walking towards Jorden and the girls with her back towards us and her hands in her pockets. She was probably clenching her fist because her hands looked like a lump in the long pocket of her sweatshirt.
As soon as Scarlett reached her twin brother, she leaped them back home. Everyone else leaped back home too for they had nothing else to say.
Ellie and I decided to go to Havenfield and think things through under the shade of the Panakes tree and the comfort of cute baby alicorns. I mean, we just saw what life was like for our mom when she was younger. She grew up with cozy cafés and streets filled with people who don't wear capes?
I'm in! I can't believe we are missing out on a life like that.
"Can you believe mom left all of that?" Ellie says.
"But for what? Why did she want to leave at all?" I reply. I expect a clear reply from Ellie, she always seems to know what people are thinking deep inside.
"I don't know,"
And we sat there, leaning our backs on the Panakes tree, flower blossoms falling in our hair, distant neighs in the background, and our ice blue eyes looking up to the sky for explanation.
"Hey," I ask Ellie before we head off to our rooms to sleep. We were back at Mariglow, our house, and so far none of the parents suspected anything. "I forgot to ask you before, but did you think that Scarlett was acting pretty weird when we got back from... you know-"
"Yeah, yeah," Ellie said over me, and motioned for me to quiet down.
"I mean, I know she was mad, but it's rare to see her trip over her own feet, you know. Because that looked like a very overexaggerated trip," I explained.
"She was pretty attached to that kitty," Ellie says.
We said our goodbyes and walked to our rooms. Our entire family was pacing today. Me and Ellie as well as our parents.
Back and forth, back and forth, I could hear my mom in her room mumbling about the Neverseen or something, and of course, my dad telling her to calm down. I pressed my ear to the wall, for my room was closer to my parents than Ellie's.
"A temporary blue crystal, Keefe! Imagine if that got into our children's hands! The kids aren't safe here with all this Neverseen business," Mom says. My brain is split in thought. One half is worrying that they found our leaping crystal, and the other half is wondering what a temporary leaping crystal is.
"Don't worry, Sophie, the kids are safe. I know that the Lost Cities aren't very safe, so I was thinking... maybe we should show them a place that is...?" Dad asks. My mom stops in place.
"You're not suggesting-" She starts.
"I am, and I think it's right. She helped me when I didn't feel safe and she'll help our kids."
"We're not related, not really, and I can't give her a burden like that."
"You're not a burden, Sophie, you're a gift." I can almost see them hugging through the wall. "She's your sister, Sophie, she'll want to help you."
My mind was overwhelmed with information. Mom has a sister? How? And how is she involved? But the biggest question was... is she an elf, or not?
I decided to sleep on it. A lot happened today, I'll let my dreams decide what to do.
