Wednesday, second day of midterms

"Dean! Dean!" I run towards Dean Cardel, top Base Quest player, one of the socialites of the year four's, and my best friend since we were level two. He turns around, his arm still around his "one and only," Janet Glinson.

"Hey, J! Wassup?" Dean asks me.

"Wanna go to Jelly Jar?" Just then, Avi Kumar, another year 4, approaches Dean from behind.

"Dean!" Avi says, sounding peppier than usual "Whatcha doing?" Avi and Dean had been friends since last year. He was smart, funny, and more popular than I could ever be. I mean, I could never match up to him. He was always going to be the better friend.

"Well, Jorden and I were about to head to Jelly Jar. Wanna come?" Of course he invited Avi. Not that there was anything wrong with that, I mean, Avi's great. But, Dean and I had been hanging out a lot recently. You would think he sees me as more of a best friend than Avi.

"Sure." Just as he replies, I hear another voice coming from behind me. This time, I recognize it to be my sister, Scarlett.

"Jorden, I need to talk to you!" She says scrambling, but stops when she sees Avi. The feeling in the air seems to change. I can't put my finger on it, but it feels off. They break eye contact at the same time, and Scarlett pulls me away.

A few moments later, I return. She was telling me about some home stuff, nothing too serious. Upon my arrival, I was asked a question I never thought I would be asked.

"Hey, Jorden. Who was that girl?" Avi asks, as I see a slight smile spread across his face. No. No no no no no. Out of all the girls in this school, Avi Kumar just had to have eyes on Scarlett.

"She's...my sister," I say, trying to sound a little territorial. It didn't work. Avi gives a slight nod.

"Well, are we going to Jelly Jar or not?" Dean breaks the awkward air, and we all head out of Foxfire.
