*This story is in an alternate universe in which Rae lives with the OTV members
All the OTV members went partying. After all, it's Friday evening. But not Rae
She hasn't felt ill since a long time ago, maybe last year, as she goes to the gym every now and then to get her six-packs (and failed), even though nobody will see them anyways.
So instead of streaming, she dragged herself with a blanket to the common room. She watched the dried corns magically one-by-one popping into popcorns in the faint light of yellow in the microwave, then scrolled down lazily the movie list.
After a while, she decided to watch the Avengers Endgame for the 27th time, as she wasn't in a state for unexpected drama today.
Then she heard some footsteps coming from the first floor.
Maybe Poki actually stayed behind to comfort her.
"Hey Poki...oh, it's you."
"I can always leave if it disappoints you though." Sykkuno said.
"I'm not disappointed! Just, surprised, you know..."
"Of?"
"Of you not going to the party."
"Well, I feel obligated to not to leave you alone in this house. Who knows when will an assassin decide to kill the content creator or the year?"
"Oh you're just finding an excuse not to socialise, aren't you?" Rae rolled her eyes but laughed. "We need to work on your character development."
"Want some microwaved poptarts?"
"Are you changing the subject?"
"Strawberry or Brown Sugar?"
"Brown Sugar"
And the microwave started beeping again.
Sykkuno sat beside her just at the time the intro started, with a plate of poptarts and a cup of tea.
"Having a slight cough doesn't mean that I'm incapable of diet cola..." Rae raised her voice but burst into coughs straightaway.
"Well, you just proved yourself wrong." Sykkuno covered his mouth and laughed. He sat down next to Rae and crossed his legs.
After Rae recovered from her cough, she muttered:
"Don't sit beside me, I think I caught a cold..."
Sykkuno froze and was lost in his thoughts.
"What's wrong?" Rae asked.
"It's just... I hate this kind of situation. Don'tgetmewrongIwasn'taimingtopersonallyattackyouas apersonI'mjustreferringtothesituationitselfisabitembarrasingactuallynevermindyouknowwhat..."
"Asdfghjkl just tell me why!!!"
"You see," Sykkuno took a deep breath as if preparing to introduce to coronavirus to his future grandchildren, "If I actually move away, it would seem rude and as if I'm disgusted by your illness – which is totally not true – and might make you feel lonely, but if I stay, I am being ignorant of the command of the content creator of the year who is not capable of defending herself right now due to her serious illness..."
"SyKkUNo, I just caught a cold, it's not that I'm incApAbLE of tAkINg cARe of mYSeLf!"
"Well, apparently you would drink diet cola and get worse if I wasn't here..."
"You troll."
Seeing Sykkuno not moving away, Rae wanted to remind him again, as she genuinely doesn't want Sykkuno to be infected. Streamers can't get ill as their immune system is usually less effective due to their poor sleeping schedules. But Rae rethought about it and gave up: letting Sykkuno end up in that weird cycle of introvert logic would possibly wear down his mental health (any relatable?)
Plus he was right. She would have felt lonely if he had moved away. Even if it was just a meter's distance. Must be because of this annoying cold. "Is this selfish?" She thought to herself.
