Among Us - the Decision

Rae hid in the same corner of electrical. She just needed to wait for their task win. That's it. 

And the taskbar was moving across the screen more and more rapidly. 

But her thoughts were disrupted by an emergency meeting. 

"I was doing downloads and we only have 1 meeting left. Bro this gotta be important." Blue stared at orange. 

Orange didn't speak. Something was off.

"Is there...something...wrong?" Sykkuno tentatively asked and clutched Rae's hand. 

"One task's broken." Orange looked down.

"Don't you guys get it?" Toast's ghost glanced around each ghost and grinned, "That maniac wanted all of us to suffocate from guilt. It's not a game, it's a play around human's emotions! I bet he's watching us even right now!"

Nobody said a word. Provoking the creator of the game would not help the situation at all.

Toast seemed to realise it and stopped. He clenched his fist and smashed the table, but his translucent hand simply went through it and caused him to fall flat onto the ground. 

"F**K!!"

"You guys already knew, didn't you?" Rae smiled at orange and blue.

They didn't say anything. Just nodded in respect.

"You really love pink don't you?" Rae was referring to orange, "Misfortune can sometimes reveal our true feelings can't it?"

With ghost vision, Corpse deep cry was the most earth-splitting of all, and Toast just lied on the ground, looking vacantly into the ceilings. He knew it already, even from the first round. He even predicted this ending. But he didn't accept it. He wouldn't.

"You don't have to make that decision now, Sykkuno." Rae turned to the green astronaut next to her and patted the sprout on his helmet, "I've never wanted you to do it in the first place."

"You're not an imposter, m'lady." Sykkuno held Rae's hand in his palm which he was already clenching:

"Valkyrae. You're a heroine."

He pulled Rae into a hug. It was his first time expressing his gratitude to her without the usual trolling tone. 

They stayed in the position for a while. Then Sykkuno pulled her even closer until he could feel her heartbeat, beating in sync with his.

"Don't go..." His voice got hoarse, "After all that we've been through..."

"Sykkuno."

He raised his head and looked into her eyes again. They were glittering. The stars from behind were reflected onto the visor of her helmet. Her graceful long hair, her tanned skin tone, and back to those eyes. He would never want to forget those. 

"Tell Yvonne to speak up whenever she needs to. Tell Lily to stay wholesome. Tell Scarra to protect the others. Tell Poki to ignore those haters."

"Tell Corpse to keep up his sleeping schedule and take his med. Don't let streaming take over his lifestyle."

"Tell Toast to put a frame under his mattress, and tell him that not to dissolve the Amigops just because I'm gone."

"And Sykkuno."

She stopped, swallowed and held his shoulders.

"Don't forget me."

This was when he couldn't hold it anymore. Sykkuno knelt down and let those tears smear the visor, he didn't care whether it was a sign of weakness.

Rae helped him up and held on to him for one last time. She listened to those synchronised heartbeats and buried her head into his chest. It was warm. Orange helped Sykkuno to vote before the voting time was over, without interrupting their farewell. 

Sykkuno took his helmet off, then Rae's, and placed his forehead onto hers. His hand ran through her hair before interlocking with her hand. It was that moment when their chemistry ignited into an everlasting scarlet flame, planted into their hearts. 

"How can a man forget someone he loves?"

And Rae faded under the dim, flickering light of the spaceship. Sykkuno lost his centre of gravity and fell onto the ground. He stared at the hand which had intertwined with hers, feeling an agonising sense of loss.

Orange and Blue took their helmets off and lowered their heads. So as the other ghosts.
