"We should start", the most logical of all, Toast, disrupted the complete silence which has lasted for 15 minutes, "We don't want to waste the 3hrs on moaning, otherwise everyone would die."

He took the continued silence as an agreement and pressed the "Start" button.

Crewmate.

He could feel a lump inside his throat. And he didn't know why.

Or maybe he did. But didn't want to face the truth.

That he would highly probably know the imposter from the early start already. And it would be difficult for him to decide whether to tell.

Sometimes he just wished to have a smaller brain. Honestly.

The players one-by-one left the table in the middle of the cafeteria. It would seem like a pretty normal game if only everybody's expressions weren't that uneasy. The taskbar also went up extremely slowly. It seemed as everyone wanted their imposter friends to survive as long as possible, so they avoided an early task-win.

Usually, admin would be chaos in proximity chat, as everyone would gather there for the card swipe and some random accusations for fun. But their survival instinct took them over, ending up everyone being suspicious of each other.

And even though it would be the most efficient way for the imposters to simply confess and for everyone to chill before voting them out after 3hrs, nobody has yet even attempted to communicate. This was understandable, but torturing.

People were leaving admin to complete their other tasks. Corpse, on the other hand, kept on failing card swipes. Every time the red light shines and the annoying buzzing sound rings again, his anger built up. It continued to a point when he just gave up and smashed the card on the ground. This would be content if only it didn't involve actual people.

He was about to yell his lungs out to let go of all the frustration when he saw another figure at the entrance. Squinting through his mask, he could see a shade of cyan.

"Corpse..." Toast was shaking.

"Yeah?"

"I can't."

"Can't what?"

"Do the wires. My hands... They are shaking... Throughout my gaming life, they have never shaken before..."

His voice cracked and Corpse could hear him sobbing, and all Corpse could do was to pat him on the back.

They have never had many interactions before, so Corpse had no idea how to comfort Toast, when he couldn't even calm himself down. He hadn't seen Toast spoken any words of softness before, and had only heard of Toast weeping once after the incident of Fedmyster. If such a person could break down, he wondered what would Sykkuno and Rae feel.

*

Rae was walking lifelessly into the electrical. Nobody sabotaged yet, which was good to know.

And she saw Sykkuno, who seemed to be downloading on his own in the corner.

"Oh, Rae, it's you." He gave a little jump, "I thought someone was about to kill me."

"Sykkuno..."

"Huh?"

"..."

And the silence lasted on. Sykkuno closed the tab, even though the task was only half-way through, and walked to Rae:

"I'm not going to ask what is wrong, because everything is wrong."

Rae didn't look up.

"You didn't kill me yet. And you would usually kill me first. So it's neither of us, which is at least a relief, right?" Sykkuno tried to cheer her up, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't force a smile out. It just ended up with him making a strange face, so he was glad that Rae didn't look at him, despite that he didn't even care about self-image anymore.

"Sykkuno..."

"Yeah?"

Rae took out a key.

Sykkuno frowned. "Aren't keys for Polus only?"

Rae didn't reply. She walked to the vent. She inserted the key mid-way into the hole.
