Broken - Raekkuno oneshots

Hanahaki - Author's note

I'm recently working on a new oneshot (and yes without much angst, you guys are welcome), but I'd like to keep you hungry guys with something to read so here's my short note on the meaning of some details and foreshadowings in the Hanahaki series, in case if you have missed (totally not an excuse to brag)

Hydrangea - this is a symbol of heartfelt emotion. At the start of the story, it hints the loving emotion of Sykkuno towards Rae, though towards the last chapters it starts to develop into a rather sorrowful emotion of Rae towards Sykkuno's and their ending.

Soft green - I'm pretty sure that most of you are aware that Sykkuno's favourite colour is this, but Rae didn't mention many times that it is also, coincidentally or not, her favourite colour (but some of you guys spotted my intentions out XD). I find the dynamic between Rae's and Sykkuno's personality, interestingly, parallel to the colour dynamic - viewers can always relate Sykkuno to soft green as his profile pictures, Among us character, etc. constantly reminded us this, whilst for Rae we always relate her to the colour of red, which symbolises the idea of strength and even harshness. And even though on stream sometimes she is quite of a character(which I and hopefully we love!), through small details we can see the soft (green) side of her, just like how her emotions are portrayed in the alternative endings. Typical tsundRAE ain't I right?

The decision - in chapter 2 toast mentioned about doing "what's best for them". Ironically this story ends in both of the characters failing to confess their real feelings towards each other. So is this really what they think is the best for each other? 

The dreams - of course, the bizarre dream in chapter 4 has already foreshadowed to you guys the tragic ending (totally not trying to escape the blame here XD) But at the same time, I want to mention how Sykkuno protected the only flower left with his ego. Apparently, this ego was meant to protect themselves from possible rejections and unretrievable platonic friendship once one exposes the feelings towards the other, this is also what destroys them ("they were dyed crimson red by their egos"). I think that this also applies to what happens in reality: Rae always act mad and Sykkuno acts oblivious (personal opinion - don't attack me pls let's make 2021 a better year) and when the ego of both people are so high according to the rules of the Universe of Fanfics something sad is bound to happen ;) This is why the last flower was destroyed in a blink of a second.

The street - I bet many of you have noticed this too, that this represents the memory of Rae and Sykkuno together, developing from meeting each other through games, to talking face to face in the Asian restaurant (in one of Lily's vods) and then to this event of hydrangeas, leading up the way to the hospital. The fact that all her memory was based on Sykkuno again hints something here.

Thomas - Sykkuno's real name. It is at that moment that she makes the decision to open up with him,  parallel to the opening action of the elevator doors. But of course I'm not making this confession to happen as I'm brutal. And this is more impactful because when she decides to finally be the one to put away her ego, she can't confess to Sykkuno anymore after he loses his ability to love Rae after the operation, otherwise, he definitely would not move on, so she suffered this silently for his own good. 

Reply - This can be interpreted two ways, both the actual twitter reply of her forgiveness and her actual reply to his feelings. But the fact that Sykkuno waits for her forgiveness even though anyone would know that Rae isn't even mad at him makes it more interesting, just like how he, again, avoids spitting out his feelings but is afraid for the rejection which is never going to happen if this actually occurred.

And sorry for any grammar mistakes or unclear explanations here, I'm rushing through this cuz I want to sleep.
