A grape hit me right in the eye. "Ow, Theo!" I complained, reluctantly looking away from the Great Hall's entrance to rub at my stinging eyeball.

"Come on, Rid, stop getting distracted!" Theodore urged, preparing to throw another grape at me. "You can catch this one, I know it!"

"Okay, okay," I said, furrowing my brow in concentration. "Go!" I opened my mouth, preparing to catch the grape.

Theo chucked it, and right as I moved my head to catch it someone clapped their hand over my mouth, tilted my head back, and caught the grape in their mouth instead.

"Draco!" I scolded once he'd released me. He was looking at me smugly, chewing the grape with a smirk. "You stole my grape!"

"This game is beneath you, love," Draco reassured.

"Plus you missed the last five tries," Blaise added with a laugh.

I glared at him. "Like you could do any better."

"Oh I could," Blaise said, his lips twitching up into a grin. "I just don't want to one-up you because you still have a boo-boo head."

"I do not," I gritted, rubbing my head self-consciously.

"But I bet Pansy and—" Theodore suddenly cut himself off to gasp so dramatically that Airam slopped pumpkin juice onto herself. "Look, look, LOOK!" Theodore enthused, slapping Crabbe's arm repeatedly with one hand and pointing to the Great Hall's entrance with the other.

I whipped my head toward the entrance and my blood ran cold. Pansy, Millicent, and Tracey had just entered, burn-free yet still looking a little shaken. I'd been expecting this all morning — I knew they'd be released because their burns were healed, but I had no idea how'd they'd react. My friends' reactions, however, were very predictable:

"There they are!" Blaise said loudly. "Let's get 'em—"

There was a loud scraping noise as nearly all of them stood, shoving their plates away.

"No, no!" I said, standing and leaning forward to put my hands on Blaise's shoulders. I shoved him back onto his seat, causing everyone to pause. "What is wrong with you? You can't just jump them—"

"Yeah," Draco said, still in his seat since he hadn't gotten up with the rest of them. "It's broad daylight and the professors are watching, are you lot stupid?"

"Draco!" I snapped, shocked that he'd used the word. "You promised you wouldn't!"

"I didn't promise, love—"

"But you said," I reminded him. I grasped the front of his robes, yanking him up toward me so that our faces were only an inch apart. "Please promise."

Draco rolled his pretty grey eyes, but then when he looked into my red ones, his expression softened. "Alright, love, I won't do anything." He kissed me on the lips before tugging me back into my seat.

I slivered my eyes at him. "You won't do anything?" I repeated.

"I have no control over these idiots," he said, gesturing to our other friends, who were all still standing besides Blaise. Theodore's mouth was gaping open as he stared down the table at Pansy, his fingers twitching in anticipation.

I looked around at all of them in exasperation. "Sit down," I said, grabbing Airam's hand and tugging her down. "And Theo close your mouth." Grumbling, the others reluctantly sat back down. "I just want to move on — Scumbridge hasn't found out and I want it to stay that way," I tacked on, as a lie. The Pink Toad wasn't even a worry of mine, I just didn't want anyone else to find out I could burn people with my skin.
