A/N : Hello! I'm sorry this chapter took a little longer to come out, I don't update this regularly so I apologize for those who want more consistency. Next chapter will be like the dinner, the one after will be the dancing portion!Anyways, this chapter is not going to be the most historically accurate but I did what I could to research and make it understandable for the 21st fanfic century!

Today was the Saturday of Madison's dinner party. All of the surviving founding fathers who could attend and their mature children and wives would be there. He felt as though the apology would be best showcased through a lovely meal and potential dancing in his ballroom. As exciting as the prospect of dance is, the only other child around my age is Philip Hamilton. He and I were far from conversing with one another at this point. While his kiss was enjoyable, I cannot forgive him for lack of responsibility and kindness towards his fellow human.

I gazed at my reflection in the mirror, pleased with the contrasting hues and warmth my entire presence brought. The gown itself was a pale orange with a darker hue ribbon wrapped under my bust. The sleeves puffed ever so slightly and stopped round my shoulder like a classical princess! I twirled in the mirror, watching the edges of the dress float by my feet. The white gloves Jane had found for me complimented the outfit splendidly. Even my shoes matched the occasion with the same dark orange of the ribbon. Mother's pearls were around my neck, accompanied with her decorative earrings aside my dark ringlets. I very rarely wore her items, but Mother never wished for her jewelry to go to waste. If we were to attend this dinner party, we were going to attend it fashionably!

Papa himself came down the stairs with a bandage round his ear. It had been stitched up days ago but he accidentally tore it open when trying to place a painting on the wall so we had to cover it briefly.

"Theodosia! You look beautiful darling!" He said smiling proudly at me.

"Thank you Papa, grab your coat we must be going." Papa frowned at my failure to accept the compliment properly but said nothing as I assisted him slipping into his coat. I myself dipped into a velvet coat and called upon Jane.

"Yes mistress?" Jane asked. She entered from the study, I hadn't known she was so close.

"Ah Jane, we are to head out for the evening. You are permitted to go anywhere you'd like, I just expect you to return here by 7 am tomorrow morning. If you do leave or decide to go to sleep early, please leave a key under the pot of violets in the front so Papa and I may enter the home when we arrive. Allow yourself to indulge in any of the fruits or food we have though I ask you refrain from Papa's whiskey. Wine is fine, Jane. Did you understand all of that or did I speak too swiftly?"

Jane nodded her head at me. "You wish me to leave a key under the violets for you if I leave, and I may have any foods though avoid Master's whiskey."

"Delightful, thank you Jane." I look to Papa then the door. Outside the clacking of horse hooves against the pavement let me know our ride was available. "Well, we best be off. Have a wonderful evening, Jane."

"The best to you both, Mistress."

She opened the door for us, allowing Papa and I to enter the evening sky before closing it. I trusted her to not do anything inappropriate while we were away.

The black carriage was in front of us, the coachman holding the door open with a charming and all around fake smile. I returned the favor, accepting his hand into the lined inside. Papa sat opposite me and the carriage was off towards James Madison's home.

I watched the city of New York roll through the window, lights of families and children. We rode past the hospital where Papa stayed and my stomach clenched itself for a moment. Perhaps it was my own personal weakness, but I still felt as though that hospital felt when Papa was first injured. I tried not to think on it, enjoying the comfortable silence between myself and my father.
