Katara, Suki, Sokka, Aang, Toph and me all decided it was definitely not a good plan to go to the centre and get some clothes for the dance. that doesn't mean we're not going to do it, because we sure as hell are.

Toph and I made sure to make a bit of a shelter outside our school so we could dress ourselves. we're going in disguise. Katara is playing the mother of us all, since she likes playing that part for some reason. Aang is going to be the dad. Sokka wanted to be the grandpa so Suki offered to be the grandmother. turned out me and Toph were going to be children.

I grown at my friends, rolling my eyes when Katara tells me to listen to her. "you know, it's not really fair you're being like this. I know me and Toph are the smallest of all of us, but now you guys are just being rude."

"yeah!" Toph exclaims, crossing her arms. "and I might be blind, but I can totally walk on my own! you know, watching with my feet and all."

Suki chuckles, showing her true grandma laugh. "yes but to be in total disguise, it would be great if we could go there as non-benders. so Toph, are you able to act like you're a blind non-bender for a while?"

she rolls her eyes at Suki's words and nods with a scoff. "fine, I'll do that. but if you guys are being mean to me I swear I'm throwing you out of the shop with my earth bending."

I chuckle at her words. "I'm with my sister. would totally do that too, assheads."

"let's get going then."

and off we go. the night goes well. we're able to buy a nice dress for Katara, Suki, Toph and me. Aang and Sokka got some real nice clothes as well. I'm pretty happy with my dress, and I think everyone else is too.

not many people looked at us. we were pretty normal, even though sometimes we giggled like little school girls. mostly Sokka and Aang though, we girls are pretty tough and know what we need to do to blend in.

"that was so much fun," Suki sighs as we get back to the shelter me and Toph build for us. we make sure to change ourselves back into our normal clothes. 

when we're done, me and Toph bend our stuff into the ground. this way we can always find it back, but no one will find it. man, we're so smart sometimes

"it sure was, Suki," Katara says with a smile. she will make sure our dresses get to our room. "we should head back though, it's already late enough."

I nod at her words. "yeah, I'm pretty tired too," I lie. I'm not, but I can use some time alone. I really want to just sit outside of my window for a while and look over the city. I sometimes do that... mostly when I miss my family.

I say goodbye to everyone when we need to part our ways. me and the girls need to go another way, back to the girl rooms. the guys are somewhere else, having their own place.

when I get to my room, I throw my bag on my bed and check if no one's outside of my door. the coast is pretty clear, luckily. the guards don't really care actually. I sometimes catch them drinking some beer and just chatting and playing games. woah, sucks to be a guard huh?

I bite my lip as I wander around my room. I'm not tired at all. I'm never tired. we're supposed to sleep around 10pm and wake up at 6, but I'm never tired at that time. it's no different this time.

I sigh to myself and open my window, looking around. no guards under my window, the windows of other girls are also closed... let's take a walk, shall we? maybe that will clear my head and make me tired. or I could do some bending to tire myself out.

I jump out of my window and make sure to land on the little balcony beneath me. I make my way over the roof of the building. 

I'm about to jump off the building, over the big secure walls we call school property, when I hear something behind me. I get in my defence position, ready to fight whoever wants to attack me.

"up late, aren't we?"

I turn around quickly, bending a rock towards the person when it approaches me. the person widens his eyes and calls out an 'woah' as it dodges the rock.

"Y/N calm down! it's just me, Zuko!"

my eyes widen. "oh, fuck! sorry. shit, you scared the fuck out of me!"

he chuckles softly. "yeah, that's on me. I'm sorry. what are you doing though? it's 11 pm, aren't you supposed to be asleep by now?"

I cross my arms while looking at him. "eh, the same counts for you right? could ask you the same. Zuko, what are you doing here? it's 11 pm, aren't you supposed to be asleep by now?"

he chuckles again and rolls his eyes playfully. Zuko walks towards me slowly, making sure I'm not going to attack him. which I'm not, since he's my date for the school dance. I kinda need him alive to have him be my date.

"yeah, well... I couldn't sleep and heard someone run over my roof. I thought it was a bit concerning, so I looked out of my window and saw a pretty girl in green earth nation clothes run over the roofs of our school buildings. I immediately knew who that person was, so I decided to change clothes and run after you."

my cheeks become a little red, so I look away, hoping Zuko didn't notice. I cough a little, mumbling some words. "I was actually... going for a walk. I'm never tired at this time of the night, you know?"

he nods at my words and makes sure I'm looking at him. "me neither." he smiles. "and I know, since you're always sneaking out at night. I know that you and your friends aren't exactly in your rooms after 8pm, you know? even though you're supposed to be."

I laugh. "what? you're kidding. we're always in our rooms. maybe I'm at Toph's sometimes... I mean, we're neighbours. I bend my way into her room and she does the same to me. but we never leave the building."

he chuckles. "whatever you say. your secret if safe with me, though. I won't tell anybody. already would've if I wanted to. just know I'm keeping an eye out for you, yeah? I don't want anything bad to happen to you."

oh god, what is this guy doing to me? he's so damn flattering, I could just wrap my arms around his neck and kiss-

"hey! what are you guys doing up there?"

my eyes widen when I hear a guards voice. "fuck, time to go!" 

I quickly bend some of the buildings earth towards the guards, making sure to not completely ruin the building. "let's get out of here."

I take Zuko's hand and bend us towards a higher roof, both running towards the guys rooms. me and Zuko jump into his window, him closing it immediately.

I laugh softly. "that was fun," I say, panting lightly. 

Zuko chuckles as well and nods. "it was, yeah. I would totally ask you to stay the night, but I know the guards won't like it when you leave my room tomorrow morning. so I guess I'll see you with breakfast?"

my cheeks turn red again and I nod. "yeah, yeah... see you at breakfast, Zuko."

I smile and open his window, trying to sneak to my own room again. I don't notice Zuko watching me until I'm out of sight.

I get to my room without anyone noticing me, luckily. I close my window softly and undress myself, changing into my sleepwear. 

I jump onto my bed and stare at the ceiling, thinking about the pretty fire bender's face that I just spend some time with. man, what does he do to me?

I really can't wait for the school dance.
