hours went by, and i still haven't heard from my best friends. they were supposed to come and pick me up in this fire nation town because i was getting some food, but they're not here. it's not like someone captured them, right? i mean, zuko joined us so it can't be him and we haven't heard from other fire nation generals in months.

so what's going on and why haven't they picked me up yet?

i sigh and wander around town, holding onto my sack with food. i feel so out of place here, since i'm from ba sing se. i feel like people are staring at me, what isn't even true, but it still feels like it. i'm in disguise, no one knows i'm from another nation. only when i start earth bending, though, so i won't do that.

i sit down outside the town on some rocks, taking an apple out of the sack and eating is sadly. it's a hot day out and i'm lonely. why did i need to get food on my own?

"Y/N!" i suddenly hear from above me. sokka and aang land in front of me while sitting on appa, motioning for me to jump onto him. "what took y'all so long?"

sokka shrugs. "what do you mean? we said we would pick you up in half an hour."

"sokka, it's been an hour," i say, rolling my eyes. "i've been waiting way too long. can we just go back?" i ask the last thing to aang, and he nods. "yeah, but don't you want to see how beautiful this town is? look at your surroundings!"

i look around and sigh. "i've been here for over an hour, i don't think i need to look at my surroundings some more. i don't want to see any more. can we just leave? i'm thirsty."

"sorry," aang mumbles, earning a shaking head from sokka. "we do need to walk for a while though, because appa is tired."

appa groals and starts walking into the direction our camp's at. "if that's the case, i think i could've walked myself already! come on guys, what's going on?"

i look at them both and aang bites his lip, shrugging. "nothing... appa's tired." 

"you're a bad liar, you know that right? out of all people, aang, i thought you would be the one to not lie to me. but okay, that's fine, i'll see where i stand."

aang sighs. "listen, Y/N," he starts, ignoring sokka's attempt on trying to not let him talk and spill the secrets. "i know you think we're lying... and we might kind of been lying, but not for a reason you think it is. it's going to be fine, i promise you. i'll never lie to you if it wasn't for a good cause. so please, Y/N, trust me on this. we have to wait for a little, and it's going to be worth it."

"fine," i say as i cross my arms. "whatever you say."

aang smiles a little and nods. sokka rolls his eyes and leans back in the saddle, looking out over the nature of the fire nation. okay sokka, way to tell me you hate me right now.

i just don't get what's happening, but alright. i guess if aang asks me if i can trust him, i guess i will. i have a soft spot for that boy anyway, so he gets the benefit of the doubt.

after some time, we finally arrive at the camp. but before we get down, aang makes sure to put a blindfold on me. "what are you doing?" i ask him surprised.

"aang just wants some fun with ya when we get off appa."

"sokka!" aang says with a groan. "that's not where this is for... but eh," i hear him say, showing me the way off appa and to the camp. "it's for something else and i hope you like it. we did our very best, y/n."

he takes off the blindfold and all the others, zuko, sokka, katara, toph and suki jump in the air and scream: "happy birthday!"

my eyes widen and a huge smile grows onto my lips. "wait... you all did this for me?" i ask, and everyone nod their heads. "ah, that's so sweet! thank you guys... i thought you all forgot that it was my birthday this morning when we woke up and you guys told me to get some food out of town."

"as if we would forget that," aang says, scratching at the back of his neck. "it's way too important to forget something like this."

"yeah, he wouldn't forget your birthday! aang was the one thinking about it! he's been talking about it for a few weeks now, planning everything and making sure we got the party you deserved. his words, though," sokka says with a wink to aang.

i turn my body towards aang and smile. "is that true?" i ask him, which he nods too. "yeah, i wanted you to have a great birthday... even though we're all having a hard time. sozin's comet is only a few weeks away but something like this needs a celebration."

a huge smile grows onto my lips. "thank you," i whispers, and then plant a soft kiss onto his lips. aang's cheeks start to blush and he stammers some words.

i turn around to the rest of my friends and throw my hands into the air. "let's party baby!"

let's say that was the most fun i've had in a long time.
