ballerina!Tubbo AU
TW// cussing, body shaming, self doubt
Summary: Tubbo gets made fun off, because he's the only boy in dance class. Tommy comforts him
Note: I actually did ballet for 12 years, and it's kind of exhausting. I just finished this year, and I don't plan on continuing TwT the teacher doesn't actually like me.
Recommendation: once it's indicated that a song starts, I imagine either 'river flows in you' by yiruma or 'do what you're doing' by Dexter Britain playing.

The brunette waited, his eyes closed and his legs in fifth position. It was his turn to perform a solo. He could hear faint giggling in the background, and he hated to admit that he was already feeling discouraged. The girls in his class would constantly tease him and make fun of him for being the only boy, and also be the third shortest. At first, it didn't actually bother him up until the most recent classes. The slight teasing and giggling turned into full on shaming. They would make fun of his appearance, of his laugh, his body and dance moves. They were literally the reason he hardly even laughed anymore, afraid that others would make fun of him too. "Okay, the song is about to start!" The dance instructor said, her voice echoing around the fairly big place, silencing the giggles. Suddenly it was completely quiet, and Tubbo didn't know whether he liked it. He felt anxiety flow within him, afraid he'd forget his choreography, or fall or do something stupid. Just add a reason for others to make fun of him.
The sweet sound of a piano could be heard, and Tubbo's breath hitched, knowing he would now have to do his best. His first movements were a little bit stiff, his plié in the beginning not going to well, but as the music continued, the brunette got a bit more used to it, allowing his body open up to the sweet melody that surrounded him. His arms were finally functioning the way he wanted them to, softly moving the to the rhythm of the song. His body moved along, and his legs guided him to other parts of the big room. Suddenly, he was able to tune out the world that surrounded him, no longer being in that big room. He was in complete darkness, but the good type of darkness. The comforting one. It felt like nothing else existed nor mattered, just as long as he was dancing. Tubbo let his mind shut off, letting his body take the lead, moving fast but softly at the rhythm of the piano. He felt free and proud, as if he had wings, and so he made a jump, then another one and another one, adding a pirouette after his third landing, pulling it off amazingly. He let himself be carried by the soft music and the dance he learned to do, feeling most of his problems disappearing. He imagined how the beautiful song would dance, and he tried to copy some of the movements he made up in his head, already knowing he'd improvise the rest of the song.

After dance class was over, Tubbo felt quite confident in himself, excited to tell his best friend - Tommy how well he did in dance class. But his happiness didn't last too long once the brunette walked out of the changing room, only to be greeted by a few girls from his class, staring at him with evil smirks. "Uhm..can I help you?" The boy asked, almost annoyed because he knew they were there to mock him. One of them huffed out a laugh that contained no genuine happiness, while another one just rolled her eyes. "Do you think you did good?" The tallest of them asked, looking directly into Tubbo's eyes. "Uh..yeah, actually. I do think I did good. What about it?" Replied the shorter male, crossing his arms.
This only made the small group of five burst out laughing. Tubbo's confidence suddenly decreased, and the urge to just make a run for it was getting bigger. "Are you serious? You looked like a fucking whale, and your stomping felt like it could cause earthquakes." One of them said, causing the group to laugh harder. This made the brunette want to shrink down and just disappear. Why are they so mean?
"Jesus Christ, man. You need to lose some weight before even thinking of joining a dance class!" One of them said. "Or at least get on our level! Oh- wait. You can't, because you're IQ is lower than our standard." The other teased. Tears started to swell up in his eyes, wanting nothing more than to leave. "Oh, no. What are you going to do? Are you going to cry, you fat little bitch?" He had enough. He lashed himself forward, pushing one of the girls from his way, his legs staring to run. He could hear cussing and yelling behind him, but it didn't matter. He just ran.

After five minutes of running, he made it to his and Tommy's house. They decided to move in together a few months back, because honestly, living with your best friend is the greatest thing. He unlocked the door, and went inside, trying his best to wipe the tears off of his face. It was warm inside, so Tubbo took of his jacket and hung it on the holder. "Tubbo?" He heard someone say behind him. The brunette cussed under his breath, because he knew Tommy would notice his red eyes end cheeks. The shorter turned around, and watched as his friend's face turned into an expression of concern and worry as he hurried towards him. Tommy engulfed the shorter in a warm hug, Tubbo immediately hugging back, burying his face into the taller's chest. The blonde rubbed small circles into the shorter's back, still not understanding what was happening, but he just knew something not too good happened. They stayed like that for a while, until Tommy suggested they could sit on their couch.
After about fifteen minutes, Tubbo has opened up about what happened today, and Tommy had to try his very best to suppress the need to go and have a talk with whoever hurt his best friend. They ended up cuddling on the couch, Tubbo having his head laid on the blonde's chest, holding tight onto him. Tommy ran his hand through Tubbo's soft feathery hair, also holding the shorter close to him.
"Hey, Tubs?" The taller started, gaining Tubbo's attention. "Yeah?"
"Don't listen to them. You are such a great dancer, okay? I've seen you on that stage, and I have never felt such a strong and positive energy come from a ballerina before. Even if the others say they dance better than you, you still have something they don't. Do you know what?" Tommy said, to which Tubbo responded with a head shake, indicating he didn't know. "It's passion, and every average person can tell. For example, I don't dance, but I can see how much you love dancing, and I think that's so great." He said, making the brunette snuggle closer to him, feeling much better. "Thank you Tommy..I'd honestly be kind of lost without you." Whispered the shorter, glad to have his best friend with him. "Any time." He replied. Both of them closed their eyes, enjoying each others company.
