Chapter 22: being goofballs

Lucy's POV:

I was with dad and mom, we were just hanging out and enjoying each other's company, it was nice. Everything had pretty much returned to normal now. Which was a relief and one we all welcomed. Especially after everything that had happened recently. Dad was back to his usual goofball self, i think its safe to say its no secret dad has what some would call a childlike side. He was the Linnamon Roll for a reason right?

Anyways mom was at work and dad happened to have today off so me, my brothers, Tobillo, and dad were spending it together. Currently we were walking down the bario, also known as Washington Heights. Our neighborhood. I saw a piragua stand and smiled "dad can we get piraguas?" I asked hopefully cause it sounded nice honestly.

"Of course" he said nodding with a grin. He got us all piraguas, the flavors were, mine was cherry, his was mamay ((idk what it is but it was in ITHs)), Seb's was pineapple and Frankie got a small cherry flavored one. We all went and sat down on a nearby bench to eat our frozen icey treat that was much like a snow cone. After we had eaten and threw our trash away i had an idea. The fire hydrant was actually spraying water so i grinned and went to play in it. Splashing some water around

Sebby grinned "let me join sis!" He said and ran to join in as we goofed around in the water happily. I smiled, it has been awhile since we could be so carefree and honestly i felt we needed it. Soon enough dad and Frankie were joining us. I lightly splashed water at dad with a laugh.

He chuckled and splashed back. Sebby and Frankie having a mini splash war as well. I suddenly slipped a bit with a squeak, dad luckily catching me and steadying me "i got you" he assured with a smile. When he saw i was steady again he let go

I smiled and nodded "thank you dad" i said happily. I bent down to the sidewalk and drew patterns on the ground with water droplets. I wrote various things, Hamilton, Paciencia y fe, family. I drew smiley faces. I was just goofing around and having fun. Even Seb and Frankie had joined in on making artwork from drying water droplets.

We continued goofing around most of the day. Of course midway through the day at lunch time we had lunch at a local restaurant. We always tried to support local places. That was important to dad and us as well. They needed our support and they always had great food. Something that sometimes unfortunately went unappreciated by some people. Most people seemed to go for the chain places. I get they're familiar but local spots can become familiar too and are sometimes even better quality food for not much more or maybe less

In the evening we headed home and mom was there. She welcomed us home and smiled "did you all have a nice day?" She asked. She had seen some pictures of our adventures cause dad had sent pictures throughout the day. I nodded happily and smiled "mhm" i said.

She smiled nodding "I'm glad" she said happy to see her family happy and smiling again. We were okay. We got through the rough patches and had finally reached a time of peace and stress free. Would it last? I dunno but for now i was just grateful to have my family here. We were okay

After dinner which consisted of spaghetti we sat and played some board games until Sebby and Frankie went to bed. We played Monopoly, Uno, 50 Questions, all sorts of games. Eventually i was feeling sleepy as i started nodding off. I felt mom get up and kiss my head goodnight as Lin gently scooped me up to tuck me in. I mumbled a gentle "gnight mom" i smiled as we headed to my room. Dad laid me in bed, tucking me in and handing me my plush penguin buddy. "Goodnight sweetie" he said kissing my head

I yawn softly and smiled "Gnight dad. Love you" i said and fell asleep. I was at peace and so my dreams were good ones.

"Love you too sweetheart" he smiled and closed my door and went to join V downstairs for awhile before they'd also eventually go to bed. The day had been perfect. I hoped it stayed that way for awhile. I knew tomorrow could hold anything, fingers crossed it was a good day
