Lucy had been in countless rough foster homes. She hadn't been doing well as a result of this and didn't trust many people at all. A musical lover, music was comforting to her. It was to many people but to her it was especially so. She flinched suddenly when she heard her foster father yell up at her room "Lucy! Come downstairs!" He yelled in his usual harsh cold tone. The small girl shivered and feebly made her way downstairs. She wore a Hamilton hoodie. One it was chilly sorta but mostly it was to hide her bruises. She had them all over, her arms, shoulders, ribs, face. How had this happened you ask? Her foster father beat her often. Lucy slunk downstairs to see her fuming father. He was clearly drunk as he stormed to her, slapping her "your mom said you've been slacking in your chores!" He growled. Before he could lay another hand on her though she made a crazy move. She bolted for the door and ran fast and hard. She looked over her shoulder and kept running. Her father was chasing her like a madman. She kept running through the busy streets of New York, passing restaurants and shops and crowds. It was a busy day in the city, as it often was. She skidded to a stop to catch her breath, seeing her father gone. She sighed and began walking again when she bumped into someone. Quite literally. She was now on the ground "oof..." she said and saw a hand extend towards her, earning a flinch from her. The figure frowned and said in a kind and gentle voice "its alright miss I won't harm you. Are you alright?" He asked. Lucy blinked as she recognized that voice. No...it couldn't be...she looked up and blinked "L-Lin-Manuel Miranda?" She stuttered. She then gave a feeble nod "I'm sorry..." she said. Lin gently helped her up "nonsense. Your alright, no harm done. I'm just glad your alright" he said with a kindness foreign to her. She nodded softly and managed a weak smile "thank you..." she said and winced a bit, she grunted as she rubbed her arms. Lin caught this and became concerned "everything okay?" He frowned. He was no idiot, he was also extremely observant. He noticed the smallest to largest details. He noticed Lucy seemed to be in some pain. Lucy shrunk back some "i..." she mumbled. She frowned "no..." she admitted. Why was she trusting a man she just met? She figured surely Lin would be kind and gentle to her. He frowned "whats wrong?" He asked and looked around "here...lets get you inside. You'll be warmer inside" he soothed as he led her through the backdoors of the Rodgers and into and towards his dressing room. Inside was a rack of outfits, and a shelf system lined with Garfield stuff, family photos. Fan art, and some other knickknacks. On the window hung the Puerto Rican Hamilton flag. And naturally he had a laptop and a mini sofa. It was welcoming, and Lucy felt a bit better already. She slowly sat down with a wince. "Thank you again for helping me like this..." she said softly. Lin nodded softly "i could tell something was wrong...I couldn't just leave you alone.." he said. He offered her a plate of a couple pizza slices, he had ordered pizza earlier and had some leftover. She smiled gently and accepted "thank you sir" she said and accepted the food. Lin chucked "please, Lin is fine. Sir makes me sound like Old-Man Miranda" he said with a laugh. He smiled more when Lucy giggled. He had managed to make her laugh. Thats good. He had wanted to, "whats your name kiddo?" He asked gently. Lucy looked at him "Lucy, Lucy Ramos" she smiled. Lin smiled a grin and nodded "reminds me of my friend. Nice to meet you Lucy. As you already said, I'm Lin" he said with a chuckle "so. I can tell things aren't easy for you Lucy...maybe I can help somehow" he said and sat across from her. "I can call my wife Vanessa and ask but you can probably stay the night with me and-" he was cut off by Lucy's cries of relief. He looked worried and gently moved to hug her "Lu?" He asked. Lucy sniffled and said "p-please help me...I can't handle home anymore..." she whimpered out. Lin frowned but knew he had to now. He had to save Lucy. To adopt her, and get her out of her dangerous situation
