"Did I hear you correctly?" I am flabbergasted by what Riley just said. Chris...likes me? How can he be? He is bitter toward me. Well granted I am not that nice to him, but still.

"Yes he likes you." Riley answers my rhetorical question. "He cannot seem to get you out of his head. He talks about you all the time."

There was a moment of silence between us...I am still confused. "How do I know that you are telling me the truth? I cannot believe it! He doesn't even talk to me as much as you do." I say. I cannot believe this!

Riley shrugs his shoulders. "Well believe it because it is true. I have never seen him talk about a girl as much as you."

I stare at Riley with my mouth hanging open.

Riley smiles. "I told you he is not mean to girls..." His smile changes to a smirk, "but with you...let's just say that when he saw how those girls treated you, he wanted to hold you."

Just as I open my mouth to speak, Riley cut me off. "Have you seen the way he looks at you? Have you actually noticed that whenever he sees you...he smiles."

I huff. "He smiles at me? More like roll his eyes every time he sees me."

Riley sighs. "Gaby listen...he likes you, as in he wants to be with you."

I groan. "Whatever! Stop lying."

"I am not lying! I wouldn't lie to you like that. Gaby, why is it so hard to believe?" Riley asks, looking genuinely confused.

I raise a brow at him. "Really? You find it so hard to believe?"

Riley raises his brows. "Oh sorry."

We both heard voices coming from the passage way. It was Chris and Alex.

Riley grabs my arm, and whispers quietly. "Look! Chris is thinking about asking you out. He-"

"WHAT?" I shriek. Chris and Alex both look at me. I look to Riley. "No way –"

"Listen to me!" Riley warns. "He wants to invite to and event that we are attending next week. We need to take somebody with us, so Chris might ask you." He spoke so quickly that I barely understood what he said.

"What are you two busy whispering about?" Alex questions and him and Chris walk to our table.

"Riley lets go of my arm. "Nothing exciting, just general chatting."

Alex shrugs. "Can I join you?" He looks at me.

I nod.

"Hello. Is it possible if I can talk to you alone somewhere?" I jolt and realize Chris spoke.

"Y-Yes. Let's go outside, please? I need fresh air." I stand up way too quickly and nearly fall.

As we were walking, I could feel my stomach churning enormously.

Once outside on the school field, Chris wasted no time speaking. "Wouldn't it be better if we weren't in this school and all? Wouldn't it be better if I saw you in casual clothes and not the same old navy blue clothes you wear every day?"

I wrinkle my nose and frown in absolute confusion. "What?"

Chris chuckles. "Sorry, I get nervous about these topics." Chris paces back and forth.

I wait in silence until he stops pacing and steps right up to me – which I need to tilt my head to look up at him. "What I am asking is...would you be my date for a function I am attending?"

I stand there, flabbergasted...again.
