"Gaby?" Chris frowns as I stand in front of him...my mouth gawking open.
I know Riley told me that Chris was going to ask me out to an event, but now that he asked literally a few minutes later...Do I want to go to an unknown event I know nothing of? Do I want to go with Chris?
My mind trails off to what could happen at that event...
"GABY? What is your answer?" Chris asks.
Snapping back to reality, I close my mouth. "Huh? You only just asked me."
"No I didn't." Chris responds.
"Yes you did." I say.
"I asked about like 5 minutes ago at least" Chris says.
I frown. I have no idea if he is being sarcastic. I need to test the waters.
"Five minutes ago? You consider that to be a long time?"
"Well on average a song is not even five minutes long so yes, five minutes is long." He coyly smiles.
I wrinkle my face in confusion. "Are you trying to allure me away from attending the event?" I ask.
Chris's smile fades. "No! I am sorry." He apologizes.
I inhale and exhale. "S...u....r....e. I.....will go with...you." I stutter.
Chris looks at me and it is as if he has received the best news ever.
"Fantastic!" he enthusiastically beams and jumps on the spot.
"I would like to know where I am going to and what function it is."
"Oh yes! I didn't even tell you. It is an event to help children with cancer. Someone told me about this charity and I checked it out. I instantly knew I wanted to start helping the charity out." Chris explains.
He wants to help out children with cancer? Chris...wanting to help children with cancer?
"What is the hospital called?" I ask.
"Christopher's Haven." He answers.
I raise a brow. "Christopher's Haven?"
He nods. "Ye – No! The name "Christopher" is there, but it wasn't taken after my name. There are other people who are named "Christopher" you know."
"I know. I was actually going to ask if you chose that charity because of the name."
"No! Not because of that. That is a coincidence. I am genuinely interested in this charity. I have only visited the hospital once." Chris says.
"Yet you want to attend a function they are holding?" I cover my mouth. I blurted those words out too fast.
"I am sorry. That sounded mean." I shut my eyes.
"It is okay. This is why I want to go to the function. I would like to know more about the charity." He explains.
I nod. "Alright. Well just let know when the function is and what time I need to be ready." I open my eyes and uncover my mouth.
We lock eyes as we both smile at the same time. I look into those beautiful blue eyes. I am finding that I am getting lost in those eyes.
Chris takes a step closer that he is practically towering over me. He opens his arms and wraps them around me. I follow suit and wrap my arms around him. He squeezes me, but only slightly.
I actually enjoyed the hug. For the first time in my life I feel safe. Safe in his arms...
The break bell rang, which snapped me back to the fact that it was break time.
I pull away. "Well...see you well, see you whenever this function will take place."
Chris chuckles. "It is next week Saturday at 6PM. You can text me your address. I will come pick you up." He smiles.
I return the smile and watch as he turns to walk away.
Damn it was hard to admit out loud, but there is something in the way he moves that is...intoxicating.
