2 MONTHS LATER:

"How have the horse riding lessons been going?" Lexi asks me, just as I sit down with my lunch in the school cafeteria.

"It has been great, thanks. You should go for lessons too. I know you love horses."

"I do, but horse riding is something else."

"Something else?"

"Seeing horses is one thing, but riding them is another thing."

"I understand." I tap Lexi's shoulder. "Still...you should give it a try."

"Maybe one day." Lexi laughs.

"One day indeed." I concur.

We both laugh.

"So what are you going to do for Halloween?" Lexi asks.

I shrug. "I don't actually know. My mom doesn't want my sister and me to throw another Halloween party again. Remember last year?" I arch a brow.

Lexi laughs so hard, she spits her food back onto her plate. "You sister was in a lot of trouble."

"And me." I add.

"So you have no plans to go to a Halloween party?"

I shake my head.

"Good. I am attending one, and I want you to join me." It sounds almost as if I don't have a choice.

I sigh. "Can I invite Chris?"

"Yes you can, but we need some 'girl time' too." Lexi takes a sip of her beverage.

"Of cause we can!"

"I mean it Gaby." Lexi's voice changes slightly.

"Is everything okay Lexi? Should I rather not invite Chris?"

She shakes her head. "It's not that you shouldn't invite Chris. It's the fact that you spend more time with him than me." Lexi bows her head.

I am at my friends' side and I hug her. "I am sorry about that my friend. You know I haven't had the best of luck with boys, but with Chris...it just seems to be...be..."

"Perfect?"

"A little too perfect, but it has been great. I am sorry I have been neglecting you." I bow my head this time.

I need to spend more time with my best friend, than my own boyfriend. I have been spending more time with Chris than anyone else.

I better not look like I am clingy!!!

"You getting lost in thought Gaby." Lexi's words snap me back to reality.

"Sorry. Okay my friend, I will not invite Chris. I will go with just you." I smile.

We both look at each other and burst out laughing for some odd reason.

***

"Is that really what you want to go as?" Lexi looks at my costume up and down.

"Well...are you really going to go to the party dressed like that?" My eyebrows furrow.

Lexi straightens her back and places her hands on either side of her hips. "I happen to like ghosts. They like spirits that roam the earth, going unseen. It is spooky, but interesting."

"And I like werewolves. They like to run around at night, howling at the full moon, and the fact that they can turn into actual wolves."

Lexi raises her shoulders. "Then it's settled. This will be our costumes."

***

"LEXI! YOU MADE IT!" Somebody shouts from across the room, startling me. This person is also dressed up as a ghost.

"Hey dude! This is Gaby." Lexi introduces me.

"My name is not dude, but you can call me Freddy." The person takes the sheet off them, and I see a glove with claws.

I laugh as I realize who Freddy is dressed as.

"Nice to meet you Freddy." I smile.

"Hey Freddy! I need to show you something!" A random person screams from across the room.

"Check you later!" Freddy winks and leaves Lexi and me.

"Shall we grab a soda?" Lexi suggests.

I nod.

For the rest of the night, Lexi and I spoke to a few of our friends, but we ultimately spent time together. We spoke, laughed and spoke about the good ol' times.

Overall, it was a good night out.

NEXT DAY:

"Gaby! Wake up!!"

I awake to find my mother's is shaking me awake.

"I'm awake! I'm awake!" I sit up rubbing my eyes.

"There is someone who wants to see you." My mother beams and leaves the room.

Chris!

I get out of bed and quickly find a change of clothes, but the only clothing that I can dress into – and fast – is the slack pants, and a very comfortable t-shirt.

"Hello my girl." Christopher's eyes are sparkling on mine as he enters my bedroom.

"Chris..." I wrap my arms around me and turn away from Chris. For what?

Chris chuckles. "You don't have to hide from me. You look beautiful, no matter what you look like."

I know for a fact that I am blushing crimson red.

"As much as I'd like to just lay her with you, I want to take you somewhere."

I turn around. "You want to lay with me?"

"Yes. I know it's early, so I would lay here while you catch up on your sleep." Chris smiles.

I want to kiss him right now, but I would need to brush my teeth first.

"I will wait downstairs." Chris says.

"Wait! Where am I going?" I ask, confused.

"You will see. Just get dressed." Chris smiles, showcasing his shiny teeth.

Chris leaves and I get ready to go...to go...to some place I don't know where.
