I entered our common room and was glad that practically no one was there, since almost everyone was still at breakfast. I quickly ran to my dorm room to get the book we needed for Defense against the Dark Arts and found a place in a dark corner of the common room where no one would see me so quickly. I didn't feel like being confronted or gawked at by everyone after what happened in the Great Hall, after all I made quite an entrance there. It was another one of those moments where I would love to curse myself for my temper.
To turn my thoughts to something else, I opened the book I just picked up. Defense against the Dark Arts was my absolute favorite subject and it wasn't just because of the content of the class but mostly because of Professor Lupin. He was one of the best teachers imaginable and I knew many teachers after meeting the ones at Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. I loved how much practice he incorporated into his lessons. While it was clear that we needed to practice the spells we were learning there, I never imagined that we would be practicing on a real boggart right at the beginning. No one would have done that except Lupin; just iconic.
The only difference with Durmstrang was that we were also taught a little bit of dark arts there, which was also insanely interesting but with Lupin as a teacher I could see past that.
Since there are less spells to learn in the third year than in the other years but more about dark creatures, I was reading a chapter about Hinkypunks since we would be discussing them in the next lesson. After reading the first few pages, I saw Lia and David sit down with me.
"So there you are, we've been looking for you," Lia said. She had a worried look on her face and tilted her head slightly. David, on the other hand, grinned at me and began emptying the pockets of his cape. "I packed some food for you. I thought you must be hungry after not eating breakfast." He placed an apple, a banana, and two sandwiches on the table. I wondered, first, how he had gotten all of that into his pockets and, second, how I was going to eat all the food.
"David, that's really sweet of you! I'm so hungry but that's way too much food."
"That's not all for you either, I was going to eat what you have left. After all, Lia dragged me out of the Great Hall right when you left to look for you. I didn't have enough time to eat my fill," he explained with a shrug and I had to laugh. It was just astonishing how much David could eat. He ate twice as much as Lia and me put together and that without gaining an ounce.
I grabbed the apple and one of the sandwiches and started eating. David took the rest and immediately started to eat as well even though he must have already eaten a ton of porridge, as I knew him.
"That was quite an entrance just now." Lia looked at me with a grin on her face and her eyebrows raised. "After you left the Great Hall, I think everyone was talking about you, and I think now everyone is talking about you and Malfoy even more."
"Oh Lia, don't say that. It was bad enough before." I leaned my head back and covered my face with my hands. "I really need to practice being more patient like this and not always making every situation worse than it already is just because I always lose my temper so quickly. I really need help.", I mumbled through my hands and heard the other two start laughing.
"You know, this is just about the only time I can relate to Malfoy and his pack. The three Gryffindors can really be a pain in the ass sometimes," I sighed, "Besides, have you guys ever noticed how screwed up Weasley and Potter would be without Hermione? Zabini told me that in transformation the other day and I've been noticing it ever since. Those two are just completely hollow, they don't know anything."
"You should have seen them the last two years, it was even worse than now," laughed Lia and David and I joined in. It was nice to be able to join in the conversation, otherwise Lia and David only talked about people I didn't know. So the two of them told me some stories from the first two years, like why pretty much all Slytherins are annoyed with the golden trio because they got house points from Dumbledore for everything in the first year and thus Slytherin lost the house cup at the last moment.
