When I woke up the next day, I didn't want to get up at all and stay in bed until the holidays started. The thought of having to clean the Potions classroom with Malfoy after school today gave me a headache. After all, there were first years in the room before, which meant that something would probably go wrong with not just one potion-brewing student, but probably ten. On top of that, we had to clean everything without using magic, so it would probably take us hours.
"Anna, get up. We're going to be late," I heard Lia say. I groaned loudly as I pulled my blanket over my head and turned onto my other side.
"I don't want to get up though. Then I'll just have to go to detention later and having Binns right in the first lesson doesn't really motivate me now," I complained but Lia just wouldn't let me rest. She pulled the blanket away from me, which made me feel cold pretty quickly.
"Oh god, Lia, what the fuck?", I grumbled but she just looked at me with a smile on her face, my blanket in one hand and my school uniform in the other. When she held the latter out to me, I yanked it in a bad mood and changed.
"There you go. And just because you're not a morning person, you don't have to take your bad mood out on me," Lia said, which made me apologise to her. She was right, after all.
We went to the Great Hall with David for breakfast, where I only poured myself a coffee and packed a green apple for later. I would eat it in Binns' class. After that, the day went by faster than I would have liked, because the more time passed, the closer detention came. For a brief moment, I considered just getting one of the Skiving Snackboxes from the Weasley twins to avoid detention. But I wouldn't put it past Snape to just give me detention next year if it didn't work out this year, so I went to finally get it over with.
When I walked through the door into the Potions classroom, I found that Malfoy and Snape were already waiting for me there, so I hurried and walked to them as fast as I could.
"You already know what your punishment is. The first year students this year are just a bunch of idiots. I expect the classroom to be in pristine condition when I return. I prefer to take your wands from you for safety reasons. I don't want to have to deduct points from the Slytherin house again for duelling in your boundless stupidity," Snape said, looking at us sternly, his hands outstretched for us to give him our wands.
Malfoy and I gave each other an annoyed look before we both reluctantly handed over our wands. Shortly after, Snape had disappeared from the classroom with his cloak billowing and the door slamming behind him with a loud thud.
Now I had a chance to look at the extent of the first-years' chaos and it looked as if a bomb had exploded here. At least five cauldrons showed that the potion brewing had gone wrong and there were leftover ingredients lying around almost everywhere. The floor looked like it had never been swept and the blackboard was still full of information about today's lesson.
I sighed once in annoyance before I started putting the empty cauldrons on the shelves against the wall. Malfoy just watched me do the first cauldron, but then started cleaning up as well. We didn't exchange a single word with each other the whole time and accordingly made quick progress with the clean-up and only had to sweep the classroom, then we would be done.
We each grabbed a broom and started sweeping, Malfoy starting at one end of the room and me at the other. We turned our backs to each other and I was glad not to have to look at him. It was easier to ignore him that way. However, when we both reached the middle of the room, I accidentally bumped Malfoy with my broom as I was reaching back to sweep.
"Can't you be careful?" he growled at me, turning to me with an annoyed look.
"I just don't have eyes in the back of my head. How am I supposed to know you're standing there, hm?", I snarled back, trying to look at him as menacingly as he looked at me. "You can be such an asshole, Malfoy."
"Take that back right now." His voice was dangerously quiet when he said that but I ignored it and of course had to go one step further.
"Or else what? Or else your father will hear about it?" I put on a fake smile as I said this, however it didn't take long for it to disappear as Malfoy stormed towards me in a huff.
Without my wand, I didn't know what to do against him and quickly took a few steps backwards to put more distance between him and me. Suddenly I was standing with my back against the wall and Malfoy was only a few centimetres away from me. When he then grabbed my wrists and pressed them against the wall above my head with his hands, I had to swallow hard.
"I won't be fooled by a filthy blood traitor like you." His voice was menacingly calm and as he said it, his face was so close to mine that I could feel his hot breath on my lips.
"Unfortunately, I can't help it. You just make it too easy for me." I tried to imitate his tone and grinned as I did so.
"Shut the fuck up for once in your life," he spat back, looking me dead in the eye.
"Make me."
