Thank the force this mission was simply garrison duty, completely uneventful, This was both a blessing and a curse because it meant they didn't have to stick around long, but it also meant Mara was alone in her helmet with her thoughts

She thought of the quest she was now bid to undertake by her parents, how it might mean she could lose y/n forever, she couldn't handle that, Mara would rather spend 1000 years in the sarlack pit on Tatooine then ever lose her little orange bean

She couldn't handle it, and she knew y/n coil feel something was wrong, it broke her heart because she knew the child believed it to be her fault

The poor dear was suffering because of maras worries and she hated herself for it, when they were loading the drop ships back up she walked to the little tongruta and kneeled in front of her

"Hey Little one, I wanted to let you know that.... know that everything is alright, that Whatever happens know..... I... I .... I care very deeply for you, I always will"

She mentally kicked herself, what the hell kind of cop out was that you coward?! She was so afraid of losing y/n that she didn't want to make it hard on y/n if she was forced to give her up

Y/n smiled anyway and hugged Mara, but the mando knew the girl had been desperately hoping to hear something else but Mara just.... she couldn't do that to the child until she knew they wouldn't be taken from her, after that..... well after that nothing in the universe would stop her

They got onto the ship and took off while hammerfall company all talked around them Mara looked to ace and sarrak

"Hey, there's something I need to do, I ...I don't know if I'll be strong enough to do it alone, we need to go back to Hoth, to y/ns old home"

Ace took his bucket of with his face set in hard lines
"Why?"
His voice was flat and momo tone

"Because what we've done.... we stole this child from her home, her family and none of us want to admit that, and if y/ns family thinks we shouldn't have y/n then we need to give her up and we will never see her again, because we are the monsters in this story!"

She felt something on her face, rolling down her cheeks like tiny twin waterfalls

She was crying and couldn't even while the tears away due to her helmet

"Now I'm going to tell Sha what's happening before we go, as a courtesy, then I'm going to that planet, I'm ether going to return with y/n, or I'm not, it their choice "

She looked to her fellow bounty hunters.... no, she looked at her friends pleadingly, although all they could see was the blank metal face of her bucket

Ace finally nodded
"If it must be done, then I'll help you do it"

Sarrak hissed
"I don't approve of the possibility of losing our girl, not one single bit, but I will help you "

Mara nodded thankfully and turned to her her ship ready
"Go get y/n and sledge please, Tell y/n to say goodbye please "

Ace nodded and left to do as was asked, a minute later he returned withy/n in his arms and sledge at his side

"Thank you for the warm welcome to me and my crew captain sledge, unfortunately we have some business to attend to, I'm sorry but we will be leaving you for a bit"

Sledge nods
"Not to worry miss, me and my brothers will be on Camino anyway, we'll meet you there"

He saluted her and turned to y/n and despite his tough exterior took off his helmet and smiled

"And when you get back with her to Camino I'll be sure to see about you getting your own set Of clone armor"

Y/n beamed her eye growing large
"Really, you mean it?!?!"

"Sure thing cadet"

He smiled and Mara realized this was the first time she had seen sledge without his helmet, he looked like every other clone except for a long scar down the left side of his face and a stylized hammer tattooed over his right eye

Maras heart broke even more knowing y/n might very well never see any of their clone family again if her aunt and uncle willed it so

Mara saluted back to sledge and turned to board the lucky and went to the pilot seat setting coordinates for coreasnt

She maneuvered to where there was space to jump and punched the lucky into light speed

"I hope I'm doing the right thing"
