chapter four

Luke told the band all about Marlies incredible voice.

"You guys, this girl writes incredible lyrics. She has the voice of an angel" Luke said gushing.

Alex, Reggie and Bobby all gave each other a glance laughing at how their friend was gushing about Marlie.

"Why would she lie about not playing?" Alex asked.

"I don't know, she seemed really nervous" Luke added.

"But i'm telling you, you guys have got to hear her play" Luke said.

Bobby laughed as Luke continued on about Marlie.

"Lyrics were flowing out of us, it sounded incredible" Luke said

"Well maybe you can have her look at some of our unfinished songs if she's such an incredible writer. We've gotta play that school dance coming up in like two weeks anyway" Reggie said to Luke.

"Great idea Reg" Bobby said.

The band continued on with rehearsal. Luke had a little more fire in his eyes than ben normally did, which the boys loved.

As the group played a few more songs, the boys began packing up for the night.

"I asked Marlie to come watch rehearsals soon. Maybe then she will play for you guys" Luke said to his friends.

"Sweet" Reggie replied.

As the night went on both Marlie and Luke couldn't stop thinking about the connection they had earlier that day.

Marlie, up in her room, reminiscing old memories with her sister writing songs. She was flipping through her songbook as she heard her name being called.

She looked out her bedroom window only to see the boy next door looking through his.

Marlie and Luke both opened their bedroom windows, perfectly lined up with each other so the two could talk. Like something out of a taylor swift music video.

"Hi again" Luke said

"Hi again" Marlie smiled

This little phrase began meaning a lot more to the two.

"Would you sing for me again, please" Luke said with puppy dog eyes.

"Luke it's getting late" Marlie said.

"Just one song" He pleaded.

Marlie saw her guitar and songbook sitting in the corner of her room. The fact that she was actually considering it blew her mind.

She disappeared from the window leaving Luke confused.

"Marlie?" He called out.

He heard the sound of Marlie slowly strumming her guitar.

Luke said staring out his window with total heart eyes. Marlie came back into view and Luke's gaze laid over her.

Marlie sang, her voice breaking softly.
