The band spent hours practicing. Marlie practically knew all the Sunset Curve songs by heart now. She taught the rest of the band Bright and they ran through the set list for hours.

The boys had spent all week, each looking for the perfect birthday gift for Marlie. Alex never ended up asking Willie to the dance but he was happy to go with his friends.

"Can we be done now, i'm exhausted" Marlie complained.

Luke ruffled her hair, "Fine" He said smiling.

"Guys it's 11:30, I better get home" Marlie said laughing.

"See you tomorrow!!" She said hugging all of them goodbye.

"See ya tomorrow birthday girl" Reggie laughed.

Marlie brought her guitar and song book with her as she walked back into her house, extra quiet to not wake her parents.

She couldn't believe she was turning 17 tomorrow, and she was playing again, in front of even more people.

The students at Los Feliz only had a half day of school since the dance was that night. Meaning Marlie got to spend her birthday with the boys. She was nervous for them to come over to her house again for her birthday dinner but she was excited to play with them.

She was exhausted from rehearsal so she took a quick shower and immediately went to bed.

Marlie woke up to her parents coming in her room at 7:00 with a cake and 17 candles just as they did every year.

"Happy Birthday my beautiful Marlena" Her mother said kissing her head.

"Happy Birthday Honey" Her dad said handing her a perfectly wrapped box.

She opened the small present. Her parents got her a brand new pair of black converse with her name sewn into the back.

"I know you have a million pairs but-" Her mother started.

"I love them" She said hugging her parents. She knew that they were trying, plus she needed new shoes.

"Alright well, busy day sweetheart. We'll let you get ready. Happy birthday" Her mother said walking out with her father.

Marlie got dressed up extra for her special day. She curled her long beautiful hair, wore the same makeup as always since she'd be piling on more later, and she put on the perfect outfit.

She wore a black and pink floral top, baggy light wash jeans, and her air force ones. She paired it with all her favorite jewelry.
