chapter eleven

After Marlies birthday dinner the boys all said their goodbyes to her parents.

All of Marlies things were by the front door. The boys all helped her carry it all to the van.

Marlie was so anxious to play. She knew she'd have a blast but deep down she was still nervous.

The teens piled into the beat up van, just as they always did. Marlie sat in the middle, Luke and Alex on her sides. Reggie and Bobby in the front.

"Thank you guys for making this birthday so special. We're gonna kill it tonight" Marlie said putting a hand on both Luke and Alex.

"Of course Marlie" Reggie said looking back.

"We're so glad you decided to play with us" Alex added.

"Yeah, gonna have our rockstar shining with us on stage" Luke smiled.

The boys all gave each other looks, knowing Luke meant what he said.

Marlie felt Luke's eyes on her the whole car ride. He couldn't help it, her dress, her hair, her makeup, her shoes. Everything was perfect.

They arrived at the dance, unloading all their gear and instruments by the back of the stage.

"Luke!" Marlie said motioning him over.

"Look" She said holding up her now colorful microphone.

"It's perfect" He said smiling.

The gym began to fill up with students. All dressed up in dresses and suits. Dancing around to the DJs music.

"Okay guys, we're all set up. We don't go on for another hour. How about we go join the dance?" Alex said.

"Yes! Let's find Willie" Marlie said poking his side.

They all found their way to a table that was off to the side. All sitting down listening to the music.

Bobby spotted Carrie as she walked in wearing a pink gown. He immediately walked over to her and asked her to dance.

Marlie laughed looking at the boys.

Reggie was dancing with Kayla, Carries best friend.

"Alex! There's Willie. Go!" Marlie said standing him up out of his seat.

Alex nervously walked over to Willie.

"Hi Willie" He said playing with his rings.

"Alex you look great!" He smiled.

"Thanks, you too. Wanna uh?" Alex said pointing to the dance floor full of students.

"Sure!" Willie said grabbing his hand and walking to the floor.

Marlie smiled at the two boys together. She knew how much Alex liked Willie.

Luke was sitting across from her. They caught each other's eyes, both smiling big.
