3rd Person POV
Autobot Base
Katie yawned as she, Dante, Arcee, and the rest of the Autobots stood in the main base facing a large monitor. "Why does New Year's have to be so late?" she complained, stretching.
Dante shrugged as he sat next to Arcee, who, like the rest of the Autobots, was in her holoform. "What'd you expect? It is New Year's Day."
"More like night," Katie complained, gesturing toward a random window. "If it happens at 12 at night, why would they call it New Year's Day?"
"That's why we call it New Year's Eve," Raf explained, sitting next to Bumblebee on the Autobot's car. "After 12:00, that's when it's New Year's Day."
"Still think it should be called New Year's Night," Katie mumbled. "So... what do we do now? Another food fight?"
"No!" everyone, minus Dante and Miko, shouted.
"How about we just turn on the TV?" Jack asked hopefully. Picking up the remote, he clicked it, and the TV's screen activated.
"Umm... how are we all supposed to see the screen?" Arcee asked. "There's only one couch over there."
Dante sighed and stood up. "I got it." Walking over, he knelt behind the TV and placed his hands on the cords. Exoskeleton flowing off his arms, it seeped around the cables into the wiring. Accessing the TV's feed, he cast it to the monitor.
"Great, it's a commercial," Arcee groaned, jumping on a couch and resting her head against the back of it. "I hate commercials."
"Except for when they show vehicles," Katie pointed out as Dante walked over and sat next to her and Arcee.
"... no comment."
"Hey, look what's on," Raf pointed out as the screen changed, showing something called 'Naval Legends.'
"Oh great, a documentary," Miko groaned.
"Hey, I actually like battleships," Katie complained.
Jack coughed. "Only because you're dating one."
He yelped as Katie's knife hit the wall next to his head.
"Um, which is perfectly fine," Jack corrected hastily. "Nothing wrong with that."
Katie shot him a glare before turning back to the TV. "Anyways, what's on?"
In response, the TV channel changed, showing the center of Times Square.
"Never mind," Katie sighed.
The TV screen zoomed in, centering on a large ball hanging above the building.
"So let me get this straight..." Dante started. "They're going to drop the ball, and that starts the New Year?"
"That's how I understand it," Arcee said. "Doesn't make that much sense, but then again this is Earth."
"You forget, sister, that human customs are much different from ours," Elita reminded, sitting beside Optimus in her vehicle form. "There is still much we can learn from our human partners."
"Yeah, like how not to drive into a ditch," Katie said with a giggle.
"Wasn't my fault.... There was black ice," Smokescreen complained halfheartedly.
"You mean that you didn't see the sign that literally screamed 'Black Ice'?" Dante asked in disbelief.
Smokescreen just shrugged.
"Shh!" Katie hissed, pointing at the TV. "It's starting!"
Everyone looked over and saw that the ball was starting to drop ever so slowly.
"Everyone got their fireworks?" Katie asked, pulling out a long rocket labeled 'Orochi-Style Blazer'.
"Where did you get one of those?" Dante asked as Katie pulled out her railgun and loaded the rocket in.
Katie shrugged. "One of Quillon's friends."
"Which one was it?"
"Phoenix, I think?"
Dante sighed. "I'm seriously gonna have to have a talk with the Author about that."
(A/N) Hey, not my fault that Phoenix is getting involved two books earlier than he should be.
"You're the Author. It is your fault."
(A/N) ...Fair point.
Shaking his head, Dante turned back to the screen as the ball started dropping.
"You guys ready?" Katie called.
Dante nodded, and the countdown begun.
"10!" Optimus and Elita announced.
"9!" Jack and Smokescreen added.
"8!" Miko and Bulkhead shouted.
"7!" Raf, Bumblebee, and Ratchet chimed in.
On the Nemesis
"6!" Starscream and Knockout shouted. They and the rest of the warship's inhabitants watched the large screen above the bridge.
"5!" Megatron sighed.
"4!" Soundwave chimed, using a distorted voice.
"3!" Steve announced, pulling out a rocket and lighting it.
In the Future
"2!" Robbie called, cutting down a pair of Rev-7's.
Present Time - Autobot Base
"1!" Arcee, Dante, and Katie shouted.
"Happy New Year!"
Arcee and Dante kissed, and Katie shot her railgun out the window. At the same time, Steve launched his rocket out one of the Nemesis's viewports.
The two fireworks met in midair, creating a massive sparkling battleship image over the symbol of a Rev-9, with the words, "Happy New Year!" in bright red and white.
"I still think it should be New Year's Night!"
(A/N)Happy New Year everyone! And yes, Steve will survive this chapter as well. Hereally should stick to holiday special chapters. They're much safer for him.
