"Tony is Peter with you?" you spoke into the comms as you ran out of the warehouse.

"I sent him to your location. It was getting too intense here. Why?" Tony asked.

"There's an enhanced on the field."

"What can he do?" Steve asked.

"Just think of him as a bigger and uglier version of me." You continued to scan your surroundings for any sign of Parker or Otis.

"He has the same powers as you?!" You heard Bucky ask. "Are you guys related?"

"No, we are not related," you replied, offended. "And fuck you for suggesting it."

"We'll keep our eyes out for him," Steve cut in. "(Y/N), find Peter, he isn't responding to the comms."

You ran to the closest Hydra agent you could find and grabbed them by the collar. When they saw your sharp teeth and glowing eyes, they cowered in fear. "A big ugly thug by the name of Otis passed by here. Where did he go?"

The agent pointed at the wooded area in front of the warehouse. You could see a familiar red figure swinging in the trees, so you knocked out the agent and ran towards the woods.

"Spiderman!" you shouted as you made it. Your heart felt like it was going to beat out your chest as you looked up at the tree line and panicked.

"I'm here!" you hear Peter's voice shout as he lands on your side. "I'm sorry I didn't go to you. There was this big guy, who started to chase me, and I couldn't shake him. I think I lost him somewhere around here-"

You cut him off with a hug. You were just so relieved to see he was okay.

"Oh, we're hugging?" he asked. "That's okay, that's good."

You let him go and laughed. "Sorry, just happy to see you in one piece. You did good, kid. I think we should head back to the jet and call for backup."

"Sounds like a plan."

Before you two even made it out of the woods, something came barreling towards you, knocking you to the floor.

"Traitor," Otis growled as he pinned you to the ground. His claws dug into your shoulders, making you scream.

Otis raised a hand and was about to bring it down on your face, but Peter used his webs to pull him off you.

"No, run," you shouted at the teen.

With his attention now on Peter, Otis charged at the teen before he could heed your warning.

You forced yourself to your feet and tackled Otis to the ground. Peter tried helping by webbing his hands and feet to the ground, but Otis just used his strength to break away and force you off him.

"The boy dies whether you're a part of it or not," Otis growled as he threw a punch at you.

You dodged and jabbed him in the abdomen. "I'm not going to let you touch him."

As you distracted Otis, Peter came swinging from a tree and kicked him away from you. Although grateful for the help, you wished he had listened to you and gotten far away from here.

"Go to Tony," you told Peter while your enemy was down.

"I can help," he defended.

"I know you can, but this guy wants your head on a spike, and you being here is making it easy for him."

"Why does he want to kill me?"

"Well-" You're cut off by Otis, getting back on his feet and charging at the two of you again.

You intersect his attack and manage to get him in a headlock. He thrashes around in an attempt to break free.

"Run, now!" you growl at Peter.

Once Peter is out of sight, you look down at Otis. "I could snap your neck right now and end this."

Your threat made the man laugh. "Cut off one head-"

"-and two more grow back," you mock, tightening your grip. "I've heard the phrase all my life."

"Then you know they'll just find someone else to take my place. I'm not the first attempt at your replacement. I bet the good doctor is making more as we speak."

"You're a cheap knock off," you taunt. "A failed experiment that couldn't live up to the original."

"And you're nothing but a glorified lab rat! You think Abbott cares about you; he's using you to get what he wants!" Otis uses his free hand to stick his claws into your side, making you scream and let go of him.

He lunges at you, but you fight through the pain and hold him off. "You're probably right. The only reason I'm still alive is that he hasn't found a suitable replacement, but you know what...I don't care anymore. I got people who care about me for more than what I can give them, and I'm not going to let you or Abbott take them away from me!"

Again, Otis lunged at you, but this time you claw at his face making him recoil in pain. With his vision obscured from the blood running down his face, you took the opportunity to plunge your claws deep into his chest.

When you pulled away, Otis staggered back before falling to his knees. Blood started to spill out of his mouth, but you made no effort to help him as he tried to put pressure on his wound.

"Hail Hydra," he spat out as he collapsed to the ground.

As you watched his chest rise and fall one last time, you didn't know if what you were feeling was pity or sympathy for him. At one point, that could have been you. You were raised to fight and die for Hydra's cause; for Abbott's cause. If you hadn't joined the Avengers, your fate could have been just like Otis's.

"(Y/N)!" You looked away from Otis and saw Natasha running in your direction.

"Peter told us you needed help-" She looked at the dead body at your feet. "Nevermind, I see you have it covered."

"Is Parker okay?" You asked her.

"Yeah, he's with Tony at the quinjet. They're calling the local authorities to come to help us round up the Hydra agents."

With the adrenaline from your fight wearing off, your wounds started to ache. Nat noticed you flinch and assessed your condition. "(Y/N), you're bleeding."

"I'm fine," you assured her.

You took a step forward and staggered a bit, forcing Nat to help you stay upright. "Yeah, right. Let's get you to the jet."

As she led you away, you took one last glance at Otis.

"Oh god," Peter said as he watched you walk into the quinjet. He looked at the blood covering your uniform and felt guilty.

You waved off his concern as you sat down. "Don't worry, most of the blood isn't mine."

Tony gave you a look, "Not helping."

"What, it's true."

Soon Bucky and Steve joined the rest of you, both of their faces laced with concern when they saw you.

"You should have called for backup," Bucky scolded.

"It doesn't even hurt that bad." You hissed in pain as Nat disinfected the gash in your side. "Okay, maybe it hurts a little."

"The enhanced had your powers?" Steve asked. "Could this mean we're getting close to Abbott?"

Tony shrugged, "Maybe he panicked and brought out the big guns."

You know that isn't what happened, but you're still hesitant about telling them the truth.

"I didn't even know there were more people like (Y/N)," Bucky commented.

"There wasn't," you told him. "It was a matter of time, I suppose. Abbott always talked about making an army of soldiers like me."

"What stopped him before," Natasha asked. "He could have hundreds by now."

"The higher-ups in Hydra wouldn't allow it. Also, all his other attempts were flawed." You remembered the video file of the doctor talking about his failed attempts at his serum before you came along.

"Was the guy you took care of anything like you?"

"He lacked a sense of humor," you joked. They all gave you a look. "What?"

"This is serious (Y/N)," Steve told you.

You sighed as you thought back to your interaction with Otis. "He had my abilities, but...there was something off about him."

"How so?"

"I don't know; it just felt like he just wasn't all there."

"We'll talk about it when we get back to the compound. I think we're done here."

Natasha had finished patching you up, and you sat in the back zoning out. You were trying not to think of everything that had happened for a second.

"Hey," Peter said as he sat next to you.

You smiled, "Hey, kid. Sorry, our mission together was a lot more intense than I thought it would be."

"To be honest, it was pretty cool seeing you in action out there," he admitted.

You laughed, "You enjoyed seeing me get my ass kicked."

"Are you kidding me? You were awesome back there. When you had that guy in a headlock- it was just so cool!"

You patted his back, despite the pain in your shoulder. "You were pretty kickass back there too. I'm confident that New York is in good hands with you around."

When you arrived at the compound, Bucky insisted on walking you to med-bay.

"You should have called for backup," he said as you walked down the halls.

"I know, I just... I felt like I had to take care of it myself."

"I'll always have your back out there; you just have to call."

"Are you getting mushy with me, Barnes?" you teased.

Before he could answer, a familiar voice called your name. You turned and saw Loki come up to you.

Completely ignoring Bucky, Loki hugged you. "Heard you were hurt? What happened?"

"It's not that serious," you reassured him.

"I'm taking him to the med-bay right now," Bucky cut in as he put an arm around you. "Ask Stark about it."

"Nonsense," Loki said, grabbing your wrist. "I can heal him right now with some quick magic."

A warm feeling spread through your body as Loki's magic healed your wounds.

Bucky glared at the trickster. "That's nice, but we got to head over to the briefing room now."

Loki glared back at him. "Allow me to join you."

"That's not-"

"Guys," you cut in, "I'm feeling kind of tired. I think I'll just go to my room and lay down for a while."

You walked away before they could protest.

Once in your room, you heard a ringtone coming from your floorboards. Instead of answering, you grabbed the phone out of its hiding place and made your way to the lab. There you found Steve and Tony talking among themselves.

"They cleared you from the med-bay already?" Tony asked as you walked in.

You ignored his question and set down the phone on the table in front of them. "I have to come clean about some stuff."
